Municipal Elections Bill Passes Senate Community Affairs

This afternoon CS/SB 1262 ( Senate Ethics & Elections / Hutson ) passed the Senate Community Affairs Committee by a vote of 4-3. The bill was amended to change the provisions applicable to municipalities providing for runoff elections. As amended, the bill shortens the required timeframe between the initial election and a runoff election from 10 weeks to 7 weeks.
