OHIO CHAMBER VOICES SUPPORT FOR BWC BUDGET BILL
In front of the Ohio Senate last Wednesday, the Ohio Chamber shared proponent testimony for House Bill 75, the BWC budget bill. The testimony highlighted three pro-business amendments including clarifying when a claimant receiving wage continuation can apply for permanent partial disability benefits.

WIND AND SOLAR LOCAL REFERENDA BILL UNDERGOES CHANGES
On the evening of May 25, the latest iteration of Senate Bill 52 was introduced in the Senate Energy & Natural Resources Committee. The original language of the bill subjected wind and solar projects to township-by-township referenda in addition to the state Ohio Power Siting Board process.

THE HOUSE PASSES HOUSE BILL 157- MUNICIPAL INCOME TAX UPDATE
In March of 2020, the business community identified the complexity of municipal income tax withholding as an issue that needed to be addressed in light of the developing health pandemic.

OHIO CHAMBER TESTIFIES ON ENERGY CHOICE BILL IN THE SENATE
Tuesday afternoon, May 26 the Ohio Chamber testified in the Senate Energy & Public Utilities Committee as a proponent of House Bill 201, which would pre-empt local governments from banning the use of natural gas.

CHAMBER LENDS SUPPORT TO WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT BILL
On May 26, the Ohio Chamber offered support for Senate Bill 166; legislation that would provide incentives for businesses to offer work-based learning opportunities.

NEXT TECHCRED ROUND LAUNCHES JUNE 1
The next round of TechCred opens on June 1 and closes on June 30 at 3 p.m. Not only can businesses upskill their current employees, but they can upskill those they plan to hire as long as they are on the payroll at the time of reimbursement.
