Supporting Our Neighbors

On June 13, JCRC issued a call to mobilize the community to support families affected by raids in Omaha.

Enter Michelle Shkolnick, who mobilized her own crew and collected 600 pounts of food items, along with an additional 250 pounds of food and personal products that have been dropped off at the JCC. Add that to the 350 pounds JCRC collected in the first days of the effort, and together we’ve donated just over one half-ton so far!

Thank you to all who have contributed to our efforts. We are continuing to collect donations during this distressing time. You can find the full list of needed items on our website.

Support the Six-Point Agenda on Security

In response to mounting threats, 46 Jewish organizations, including the major Jewish groups from across the political spectrum, have come together to call on federal and state governments to fulfill their most basic obligation: to keep their citizens safe. Representatives of more than 40 organizations and roughly 100 communities will be in Washington June 25th –26th to advocate for government action necessary to protect our communities. The Jewish community cannot continue to bear the overwhelming financial and security burdens of this crisis alone.

We urge you to call on your elected officials to adopt and implement the Jewish Community’s Six-Point Policy on Security, including:

  1. Increasing Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP) funding to $1 billion.
  2. Providing dedicated funding for security personnel at Jewish institutions.
  3. Enhancing FBI intelligence capabilities to thwart domestic terrorism.
  4. Supporting local law enforcement capacity to protect Jewish institutions.
  5. Aggressively prosecuting antisemitic hate crimes.
  6. Holding social media and tech platforms accountable for amplifying antisemitic content.

These measures are essential to ensuring Jewish Americans can gather, worship, and live without fear.

Please contact your Members of Congress TODAY and urge them to support this security strategy. Your voice is vital.

TAKE ACTION: Urge Congress to Pass the Antisemitism Awareness Act

Reach out to your Representative today and urge them to support the swift passage of the Antisemitism Awareness Act.

A vote for this bill is a vote for the Jewish community, a vote for Jewish students, and a vote against antisemitism.

Together, we can ensure bipartisan support and pass this critical legislation.

TAKE ACTION: Protect SNAP and Medicaid

The House of Representatives passed a budget reconciliation package that will devastate healthcare, food access, and other basic-needs programs in order to fund tax breaks for millionaires and billionaires and sweeping deportations of longtime community members.

If these cuts pass, 150,000 Nebraskans could lose their SNAP benefits or eligibility, and 40,000 Nebraskans could lose Medicaid coverage. Take action today by emailing or calling your Senators.

US Senate GOP meg-bill suffers major blow with ruling on Medicaid cuts
