The Moral, The Political, and The Partisan: Jewish Community in a Partisan Age

Proudly co-sponsored by the JCRC and Jewish Federation of Omaha Foundation

As partisan politics continues to shape American public discourse, the Jewish community struggles to define the commitments we are meant to share with each other and to find ways to hold together across difference. How can we identify the kinds of ideas and ideals that should transcend what divides us? And how might we imagine Jewish community in a divided America?

Action Alerts

From Jewish Federations of North America

Action Alert: Protect Higher Education: Support the DETERRENT Act

Today, the House of Representatives passed the DETERRENT Act, which

strengthens transparency and enforcement to prevent foreign adversaries from exploiting academic institutions. The bill imposes strict reporting requirements, enhances oversight, and enforces penalties to safeguard national security and academic integrity. Jewish Federations are extremely supportive of this effort. Please fill out this Action Alert to urge your Senator to vote YES when it comes to the floor.

Action Alert: Protect U.S. Support for Israel – Oppose Resolutions Blocking Critical Arms Sales

In recent weeks, resolutions were introduced in the House and Senate to block critical arms sales to Israel at this perilous time of growing military threats. Please fill out this Action Alert to urge your representative NOT to co-sponsor these resolutions and to vote NO if they’re ever brought up for a vote.

Action Alert: Support the Antisemitism Awareness Act

This bipartisan bill will ensure that the Department of Education has a clear definition of antisemitism when determining whether an antisemitic incident on campus crosses the line from free speech into harassing, unlawful, or discriminatory conduct. Take Action Now to urge Congress to pass the Antisemitism Awareness Act. Learn more here.

From our colleagues at National Council of Jewish Women

As Women’s History Month comes to a close, we honor the women who have led the fight for justice — from securing voting rights to demanding fair wages and true equality. Women still earn only 83 cents for every dollar earned by a man and systemic barriers to health care and economic security persist.

Tell Congress to close the gender and race-based pay gaps by passing the Paycheck Fairness Act. This critical bill will strengthen protections against wage discrimination. With rising inflation and intense economic strain on families, passage of the Paycheck Fairness Act is essential to closing the wage gap and advancing economic justice. To secure equality, we must ensure that every worker receives equal pay for equal work.

Demand Equal Pay

Next, urge the House of Representatives to protect the right to vote by opposing the SAVE Act!

The House is voting next week on the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, which could silence millions of voters by creating new barriers to voter registration. And just today, the president signed an executive order creating the same harmful barriers as this dangerous bill, which he does not have the authority to do. The SAVE Act would require voters to prove their citizenship with documentation that millions of Americans do not have, including 146 million voters without a passport and nearly 70 million women who do not have a birth certificate that matches their legal name after marriage. To advance our democracy, we must protect the right to vote for all.

Protect the Right to Vote

And finally, urge Congress to oppose cuts to life-saving programs like Medicaid and federal nutrition assistance.

Countless Americans rely on essential government programs to afford health care and feed their families, but Congressional leaders are considering a budget proposal that would make drastic cuts to Medicaid and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). These cuts would deepen existing inequalities and harm women, children, and families. To promote dignity for all, we must ensure that every woman, child, and family has the resources they need to thrive.

Defend Medicaid & SNAP
