Lego Robotics Fusion 1
Age 7-13
Day: Mondays 11:15-1:15
Start Day: September 9th and running 6 weeks
Enjoy a "New Twist" on Robotics! This is ONE CLASS for 6 weeks for students ages 7 thru middle school, so spots will fill quickly with the fusion of "We Do" Software and Mechanical Systems combined! Come join us for an exciting fusion of Scientific Inquiries, "We Do" Software, Lego model building and testing, as we explore the integration of computers, robotics, and motors to operate free-standing or programmed inventions using computer software. Students will follow schematics to devise and operate multiple robotic creations. They will also have ample opportunity to create and operate inventions of their own.
Lego Engineers w/Simple Machines
Age 7-13
Day: Mondays 9:00-11:00
Start Day: September 9th and running 6 weeks
Explore the world of physics with simple machines including wheels and axles, gears, levers, pulleys, screws, inclined planes and wedges. Make scientific predictions based on prior observation then check to see if your prediction is correct. Advanced students will take their knowledge of simple machines to the next level with advanced challenges. The principal models allow children to experience the mechanical and structural principles normally hidden away inside everyday machines and structures. Each model build has key learning focus areas, vocabulary, questions, answers and further ideas for investigations. Models include a sweeper, fishing rod, free wheeler, trundle wheel, letter balance, windmill and lots, lots more. This kit does contain a motor. Math is an intricate part of each lesson.

My name is Kelly Nelson and I was born and raised in Riverview, Florida. I have been married fourteen years and my husband and I have a twelve-year old son who has been home-schooled for the past four years. I have my B.A. in Elementary Education and my M.A. in Educational Leadership. I taught in Hillsborough County public schools for nine years and have been teaching Legos and Robotics classes for the Tampa Bay H.E.A.T for the past three years. I am truly blessed to have the opportunity to work with children creating Lego masterpieces, and watching the joy in their eyes of the accomplishments they have built is priceless.
The pictures of their finished inventions are wonderful reminders of the fun these students have experienced and a testament to their tenacity and creativity! My classes are for ages seven to thirteen. Each child must bring a notebook and pencil with them to class. They will be provided handouts throughout the class that they will need to help build their models. They will also be provided with benchmark handouts for your records. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns that you may have at the address below. I look forward to working with your sons and daughters in the upcoming 2017-2018 school year!
Educationally yours,
Kelly E. Nelson, MA
