April 6-10: Spring Break
LHS News
Schools Closed to the Public Starting Monday, March 30th
Schools Closed to the Public Starting Monday
We will be closing all schools beginning today, March 30. All doors to the building will remain locked. Although there will be employees in the building, preparing meals and staffing the main office, the school will be closed to the public. If you need something from inside the school (a book from a locker, an instrument, etc), you should call the front office, and an employee can retrieve the item. You would then come to the school during the "Grab and Go" drive through meal service where you will be given the item in the drive through line.
  School Libraries Closed
The closing of schools includes the school library. If there is something that a student needs from the school, including from the library, they should follow the protocol in #1.
MTech Credit
MTEC has made the difficult decision to postpone their classes until at least May 4th. Many private schools are making the same decision. This means that students cannot complete the hours required to earn high school credit. Because many of our students are dependent on this credit for graduation, any student who maintains their enrollment and was in good standing with MTEC (or their private school) prior to this decision will receive a "P" on their transcript for each high school credit for which they are enrolled. Scholarships from our CTE office for private cosmetology school will not be impacted. Students will need to work with their respective schools to meet their requirements for program completion and licensing. Any student or parent with questions or concerns can email Michelle Price directly at  michelleprice@alpinedistrict.org
  May Events
As of right now, the school dismissal is scheduled until May 1. We are not cancelling May events at this time (lagoon day, graduations, senior activities, etc). We will address May activities if there is reason to believe the school dismissal will go longer than May 1.
Lunches
Meals can be picked up between 9:30 and 11:00 am Monday-Friday. They will be drive-thru pickup starting Monday, March 30. Any Alpine School District student can pick up meals.

Meals will not be served April 6-10 (Spring Break)
Technology Checkout
Technology checkout will be from 9:30-11:00 am. Since the building will be locked, please call ahead.
Registration: 2020-2021 School Year

Keeping Teens Safe Online
Sponsored by School Community Council
Connect Safely is a non-profit dedicated to educating users of connected technology about safety, privacy, and security. They provide some great resources for parents, educators, and our kids.
They have a Parent's Guide to TikTok teaching about safety controls along with many other parent's guides, tips, and advice, including how parents and teachers can help their children/students prevent online hate speech. Did you know the number one solution is to approach the targets or speakers of hate speech with empathy?
Finally, they have a Family Smartphone Pledge that both kids and parents sign. It puts the terms of usage in writing, everyone puts their name on it, and you can post it somewhere in your home where it can be referred to often.
Technology is not a bad thing. It can be used for so much good globally. Keeping our kids from using any form of social media or technology is not realistic, but we as parents and educators need to model and teach the youth how to properly use it.
