Kenzie started shooting a bow at the age of 4 with her dad and her older sister. As she has grown older, so has her love for the sport of Archery! Kenzie has been shooting local archery leagues and tournaments for several years, including the World Archery Festival in Las Vegas. At the end of 2018 Kenzie decided to set her sights on making the Jr United States Archery Team, Jr USAT. As a result she has been shooting 5 - 7 days a week since October of 2018. To earn a spot on the USAT Kenzie has competed in USAT qualifiers in Arizona, Florida, California, North Carolina and has an upcoming shoot in Texas. Kenzie's passion, dedication and hard work to the sport she loves paid off in June when she competed for and earned a spot on the United States Youth World Archery Team as a member of the Compound Cadet Women's Team. On August 17th Kenzie along with the rest of Team USA, comprised of 24 youth from all across the country ranging in ages of 15 - 20, left for The Youth World Archery Championships that were held in Madrid Spain. The Compound Cadet Women's team, Kenzie and her teammates - Regan and Faith, were able sweep their opponents through all their matches and win their final match against Team Russia in the Gold Medal match! Kenzie was ranked 8th after the individual qualification matches, the highest ranked US Compound Cadet Woman, and as a result was paired with the highest ranked US Compound Cadet Man, Cole, for the mixed team rounds. Kenzie and Cole easily made it to the Gold Medal match and took the Silver Medal, falling to Team Mexico by two points. Spending time in Spain with other members of Team USA as well as archery coaches from across the country has only made Kenzie's aspirations for her archery grow. Over the next couple of years her goal will be to make the Senior United Sates Archery Team.

Keeping Teens Safe Online
Sponsored by School Community Council
In Jean M. Twenge’s book, "
iGen: Why Today's Super-Connected Kids Are Growing Up Less Rebellious, More Tolerant, Less Happy--and Completely Unprepared for Adulthood--and What That Means for the Rest of Us,
" she analyzes data from 4 national studies conducted since the 1960’s. She uses this data to compare today’s generation of young adults and teenagers to previous generations. She concludes, "iGen is distinct from every previous generation in how its members spend their time, how they behave, and their attitudes toward religion, sexuality, and politics. They socialize in completely new ways, reject once sacred social taboos, and want different things from their lives and careers.”
Twenge explores how the introduction of smartphones has affected this generation. She discusses the trends and how these trends are shaping our society in many different areas. This book is very informative for anyone who has teenagers or young adults or works with them

Earning a CTE Pathway can lead to higher paying jobs directly out of High School due to experience earned in class. Internship is one of many CTE classes offered at Lehi High School, which will give the student direct work experience. CTE is a great way to get a jump start on a future career!
If you know of a student interested in earning a CTE Pathway (link below), please talk with the CTE Specialist Teri Drew in room 154 (ext. 154) or to his/her counselor.
