Dear Lehrman Families,

We look forward to welcoming you all back to school next week!

Construction for Phase I of Lehrman's Capital Campaign is well underway and we look forward to the opening of our new carpool lane, as well as our new outdoor play spaces!

Until Phase I construction is complete, we ask that you familiarize yourself with the following drop-off and pick-up procedures. (For those who attended Lehrman last year, we will continue with the same carpool procedures from the end of last school year.)

Please let us know if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

The Lehrman Administration

What Time is Morning Drop-Off?

Early Childhood is open for arrivals between 8:10–8:45am (Exceptions are made for EC students arriving between 7:55-8:10am with elementary aged siblings).

Kindergarten-Grade 5 students can be dropped-off from 7:55-8:10am; all elementary students are expected to be in the building and seated in their classrooms by 8:10am.

Where is Morning Drop-Off?

All students arriving to school from 7:55-8:45am will be dropped-off in front of the school landing and will enter through the Welcome Center. Please join the carpool line (see map below) and continue forward until you've reached the front of school. School faculty and security will be outside to help assist children. Please note: Children are encouraged to exit the car via the passenger side door.

What Time is Afternoon Pick-Up?

Early Childhood students who participate in the half-day program conclude their day at 1:00pm. EC students who participate in the full-day program are dismissed at 2:40-3:05pm (1:50-2:20pm on Fridays). Early Childhood students who have K-5 aged siblings, may be dismissed together with them at 3:05-3:40pm (2:20-2:55pm on Fridays).

Kindergarten-Grade 5 dismissal takes place from 3:05-3:40pm (2:20-2:55pm on Fridays).

Where is Early Childhood Half-Day Dismissal?

EC children who leave during half-day dismissal will be dismissed from the Welcome Center. Parents can park on the surrounding streets and walk-up to the Welcome Center doors, or can join the carpool line and school staff will walk your child to your car. Please note: Children can only enter the car via the passenger side door, or parents can come out to walk their child around.

Where is Early Childhood Full-Day Dismissal?

EC students who leave during Early Childhood dismissal will be dismissed from the Welcome Center. Anyone picking-up a child between 2:40-3:05pm Monday-Thursday, and between 1:50-2:20pm on Fridays, may park on surrounding streets and walk-up to the landing outside the Welcome Center or can join the carpool line and school staff will walk your child to you or your car.  Please note: Children can only enter the car via the passenger side door, or parents can come out to walk their child around.

Where is Kindergarten-Grade 5 School Dismissal?

All students dismissing beginning at 3:05pm Monday-Thursday and 2:20pm on Fridays, will be dismissed from the Welcome Center, as was always their dismissal routine. Parents can walk-up to the front landing ramp, or can join the carpool line and we will walk your child to your car. All students not staying for after-school programming should be picked up by 3:40pm (3pm on Fridays). If you choose to walk-up, you may park on the surrounding streets - do not park in the carpool line and get out of your car.

To make carpool as smooth and efficient as possible, we ask that those picking up beginning at 3:05pm, do not line up any earlier than 3:00pm (2:05pm on Fridays). Please me mindful of cones and demarkations put in place by our security team.

Carpool Line

Our carpool line flows in the direction of the yellow arrows on the map below. You must join the carpool lane at its tail, which will likely reach 79th Street (or could possibly wrap around to Tatum Waterway Drive). After you pick-up or drop-off your children at the front landing, continue west on 77th Street over the bridge; please do not turn right onto Tatum Waterway Dr.

Carpool Reminders

Please remember to have your carpool placard displayed on your car's dashboard during pick-up, and don't remove the placard until your child(ren) are safely in the car. If you walk-up to pick-up your child(ren), please bring the placard with you as well. (Placards will be distributed at school orientation). Additionally, we ask you to refrain from cellphone use during carpool and to be mindful of traffic lights and signs.

What do I do if I want to update my carpool arrangements?

If you need to make a permanent change to your authorized pick-up list, contact Ruth Quintana in the Main Office ([email protected]). Daily changes to carpool arrangements must be communicated in writing to [email protected].
