Leicester Bridge Project
Bridge Deck Pour
We had our first full bridge deck pour on Tuesday in Leicester. It went off without a hitch, and that is no small feat, given all of the processes happening at the same time: pouring the concrete, running the truss screed, and finishing the concrete on the back end. Good preparation pays off!

Excellent work by the entire team!

Upcoming October Events
Wheels for Warmth
Two Weeks from Today!
One of our biggest events of the year is just two weeks away, with the tire drop-off portion starting at 2:00 pm on Thursday, October 27th.

Please stop by anytime throughout the event. Even if it is just for 15 minutes or an hour, you don't want to miss out! Bring your family, enjoy the live music and BBQ, shop for some tires, and be part of this great community event!
If you would like to volunteer at the event, you can click the link below to sign up for a time slot. If the time slot you wanted is filled, that's OK, come by anyway just to join the fun.
We hope to see you there!
Halloween Parade
Only 2 Sundays Left to Build Our Float!
We are working on our float every Sunday from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at Parade Headquarters at Casella Waste's garage, located at 20 Belden Road in Rutland. If you can help out for a portion of the time, or even just an hour, we appreciate any help we can get. Please join us if you can!
If you have any questions, please contact Nicole Webster.
Thank you to everyone who showed up on Sunday to help out! We made good progress, the weather was great, and everyone had a fun time. We hope some more of you can join us this coming Sunday!
Huge shout-out and thank you to Charlie Wadleigh, who grilled up a delicious lunch for everyone who joined us on Sunday!
2023 Benefits Open Enrollment
The yearly period where you can enroll/make changes in your health insurance plan for the next calendar year will be coming up shortly.

We're excited to announce an early start and an extended enrollment period this year. This will give you more time to compare plans, weigh your options and discuss logistics with your family before you choose your benefits for next year.
Mark Your Calendars
We're implementing some new elements this year to make the enrollment process easier for you. Be sure to check next week's newsletter for more details.
Wildlife in the Roadway
As most of you are aware, this is the time of year where deer and other wildlife become more active in the roadways, especially in active hunting areas.

Drive with increased awareness when traveling in signed wildlife areas. Many wildlife species travel in large groups or herds; where you see one, many more may be nearby. Watch for mother and offspring groups.

Click the link below for some things to be aware of to avoid colliding with a crossing animal.
Good Catches / Near Misses
There were quite a few Good Catches last month (shout-out to Transportation with 6!) and fewer accidents were reported! Keep up the great work submitting Good Catches/Near Misses to your supervisors, and continue to look out for one another.
Can you answer the question from this week's safety discussion?
Wildlife crossing signs are usually placed in known wildlife movement areas/collision hot spots
True
False
