Hello Theatre Lovers!

What an amazing month we have had! The 2022 Porchside Festival has been a real success and I want to thank each of you for your support of this month-long event. We have tried to curate a festival that is entertaining and full of all different styles of performance, and we sincerely hope you have had as much fun as us! Thank you to our generous home owners who have provided their wonderful homes and terrific stories about them! Thank you to our volunteers, our staff, the many visual artists who displayed their work, and to our incredible Canadian performers…..you are all amazing!

If you think you may have a suitable porch for us to consider for Porchside Festival 2023 please write to me HERE.
The festival is not over yet!

Please join us tonight or tomorrow when Quammie Williams comes to perform for us and tell us his story in DRUMS: A PEOPLES JOURNEY! Quammie is incredibly talented as a drummer, percussionist and story teller! He is wise and engaging and an incredible teacher. I can also say he is a beautiful person who has truly been a mentor to me. He will be performing in the garden of an enchanting 1890 historic home, located at 310 Beech St.

Please call 705-445-2200 to book your tickets or order online HERE. This is your last chance to buy tickets for the Porchside Festival!
Sorry, but Greg & Deb’s show Broadway Jukebox is SOLD OUT.
We have two great shows for you!

A Scandal for All Seasons is an original farce about two Barrie socialites, Auggie and Doris, who engage in a “battle of the bulge” over the sexy, progressive Mayor of Barrie, Biff Worthington. When Mayor Worthington shows up on Auggie and Doris’ doorstep asking for help, chaos ensues as the women vie for his affection at a private dinner. Is there corruption in local politics? Who will be the successful winner of Biff’s heart?

The results are sure to be fun and outrageous!

Rock ‘n’ Roll is Here to Stay

August 16TH TO 20TH

Created by Leisa Way

Starring Leisa Way and the Wayward Wind Band

Location: The Marsh Street Centre, 187 Marsh St., Clarksburg

Leisa Way and the Wayward Wind Band keep the classic rock flame burning in this high energy show that is mesmerizing audiences with the electrifying sounds of the hottest rock stars and bands in history! Leisa has a huge following of loyal fans in Collingwood and she and the guys are sure to delight. There are even a couple NEW band members. You will enjoy great music that we all know and love, beautifully performed, and be guaranteed to leave knowing something you didn’t know when you came in! ALWAYS A FAN FAVOURITE!

From the Morrisburg newspaper:

Leisa Way and the Wayward Wind Band’s brand new tribute to the classic music of Rock’n Roll packed Upper Canada Playhouse for the show’s entire run. Judging by the sell-out crowds singing and literally dancing in the aisles, it was easy to see why.

From Buddy Holly to The Who, from Carly Simon to Grace Slick, this exuberant premiere production took audiences on a “magical, mystical”, musical journey through the greats, the artists who gave us some of the finest and most memorable music of the 20th (and 21st!) centuries.

With a voice that ranges several octaves, and the ability to deliver on numbers as musically diverse as “Proud Mary”, “You’re So Vain” and “Natural Woman”, Leisa Way continues to be a singing dynamo. Her passion for music is contagious. Her energy on stage is boundless: the audience took her to heart from the moment she invited them to “The Hop.”

Way’s trademark costumes and wigs (donned at record speed over the course of the entire concert), gave a sense of each of the decades the show spanned. She took us through some 40 years of music and some 40 years of rock fashion: Poodle Skirts and page boys gave way to glitter, fringe, head bands, minis and go-go boots. (It was definitely a trip down memory’s fashion lane!)

Thank you to all the students who attended drama camp last week with camp leader DeAnn Degruijter. Fun was had by all! Special thanks to Olivia and Rachel Jackson, who were our LITs (Leaders in Training) for the week. We have another week of camp coming up in August, but I have to say it is totally full!

YOUTH AND SENIORS: Watch for our next newsletter which will have more information for future programs!
Please join us for our annual fundraiser SUNDAY IN THE VINEYARD! We are going to have a wonderful afternoon at Georgian Hills Vineyard on Sunday, August 7th, enjoying wonderful food and wine pairings, live plein air painters, and the incomparable Louise Pitre accompanied by Diane Leah to entertain us. Won’t you please join us and support Theatre Collingwood?
Thank you so much, once again, to everyone who has come out to the Porchside Festival, and to all of you for your ongoing support of Theatre Collingwood. I look forward to seeing you at our August full length shows and at the Vineyard!
