It's been a bit of a week, so I'm behind - my apologies that you're getting a Friday email rather than a Thursday email!

So I will keep it very brief: thank you for a blessed Ash Wednesday. See you on Sunday for the start of Lent. And see below for ways to be active and involved at Trinity in this season!

Ha sido una semana un poco complicada, así que voy con retraso. ¡Pido disculpas por enviaros un correo electrónico el viernes en lugar del jueves!

UPDATED Donation Opportunities

THANK YOU to all who have donated to our RE-Humanization efforts to support our neighbors in need. Below are new assignments based on what’s needed to fill the gaps.

REMEMBER: Please bring sizes that will serve one household at a time without being broken up (eg: 5 bags of 1lb flour vs a 5lb bag of flour), thank you!

Last name starts with A-E: Laundry soap/sheets, dish soap

Last name starts with F - J: Cooking oil, baking powder, salt

Last name starts with K - O: Toilet paper in 4-6 roll packages

Last name starts with P - T: breakfast cereal (smaller boxes), small bags of dried pinto beans

Last name starts with U - Z: Shampoo/Conditioner (not travel size, but single family size please)

Lastly: if you have large plastic bins with covers that you're not using, they would assist with our storage!

Lenten Book Study

How we Learn to be Brave: Decisive Moments in Life and Faith by Mariann Budde, Bishop of Washington

Join Deacons Myra Kingsley and Michael Smithson for soup and conversation every Wednesday, beginning February 25th through March 25th, at 5:30 pm in Atwood Hall. Look for the sign-up sheet in Olney Gallery. Please sign up to bring soup or bread for our meal. We will have a limited number of copies of the book available for purchase ($23). It is also available as an ebook or audiobook, with narration by Bishop Budde, from the usual retailers. If you would like to participate, but the cost of the book is a barrier, please ask clergy about scholarship options!

Music at Trinity Concert, March 1 at 4pm

Layali Al-Sham is a dynamic performance ensemble that celebrates the rich musical traditions of Southwest Asia and North Africa (SWANA). An ASU community-engaged ensemble, Layali Al-Sham offers an immersive exploration of diverse styles and cultural contexts. Members develop performance technique, collaborate in masterclasses, share their talents in concert, and engage with local, national, and international communities through music. This free concert is sponsored by Don Swierenga.

Layali Al-Sham es un conjunto musical dinámico que celebra las ricas tradiciones musicales del suroeste asiático y el norte de África (SWANA). UNBOUND

Amy Menousek & Meera Norris present “Unbound,” a show about unconstrained resilience.

Amy Menousek is a fiber and mixed-media artist. Repurposed objects, including wedding dresses, are dismantled and stripped of imposed meanings, reclaiming them as symbols of resistance. “Through acts of cutting and stitching, I reclaim 'women’s work' as a labor of power rather than obedience.” Menousek is a member of the Five15Arts Collective. She has a BFA in Metals and Jewelry from Arcadia University. Her work has been exhibited in solo and group shows within Pennsylvania and Arizona.

Meera Norris is an American portraitist and interdisciplinary artist. Norris uses art to question inherited systems while honoring resilience and the sacredness of life. This series is called “Birds of the Sanctuary” and explores bird migration as a reflection of human migration. Norris has a Master's in Global Family and Child Public Health from the University of Arizona, and integrates her public health expertise into her artistic practice. Norris has shown her work throughout Arizona since 2021.

Amy Menousek y Meera Norris presentan «Unbound», una exposición sobre la resiliencia sin límites.

Amy Menousek es una artista que trabaja con fibras y técnicas mixtas. Los objetos reutilizados, incluidos los vestidos de novia, se desmontan y se despojan de los significados impuestos, recuperándolos como símbolos de resistencia. «A través de actos de cortar y coser, reclamo el «trabajo de las mujeres» como una labor de poder en lugar de obediencia». Menousek es miembro del colectivo Five15Arts. Tiene una licenciatura en Bellas Artes en Metales y Joyería por la Universidad de Arcadia. Su obra ha sido expuesta en exposiciones individuales y colectivas en Pensilvania y Arizona.

Meera Norris es una retratista y artista interdisciplinar estadounidense. Norris utiliza el arte para cuestionar los sistemas heredados, al tiempo que honra la resiliencia y el carácter sagrado de la vida. Esta serie se titula «Birds of the Sanctuary» (Aves del santuario) y explora la migración de las aves como reflejo de la migración humana. Prayers of the People

Oración de los Fieles

We pray for peace,

for goodwill among nations, and for the well-being of all people. We pray for our President and for the Congress, the Cabinet, and the Supreme Court. We pray for justice and peace, particularly in Venezuela, Gaza, Israel, and in Ukraine & Russia, in Sudan and in the Congo, and in Minnesota.

We ask your prayers for the poor,

the sick, the hungry, the oppressed, and those in prison, particularly those who are being removed from this country without due process and those being removed in spite of being in legal immigration processes as well as experiencing violence in their removal.

We commend to your mercy all who have died, particularly those who have died in ICE custody in the past year, that your will for them may be fulfilled; and we pray that we may share with all your saints in your eternal kingdom.

We pray for: Jill, Jude, Marianella and Isabella Enriquez, Donald, Andrew, and Patricia, Don & Lynn, Verna.

We give thanks for those celebrating birthdays and anniversaries this week.

Oremos para la paz,

por la buena voluntad de naciones, y para el bienestar de todos pueblos. Rezamos por nuestro Presidente y por el Congreso, el Gabinete y el Tribunal Supremo. Rezamos por la justicia y la paz, especialmente en Venezuela, Gaza, Iran, y Ucrania y Rusia, en Sudán y en el Congo, y en Minnesota.

Pedimos tus oraciones para los con recursos limitados,

los enfermos, los hambrientos, los oprimidos y los encarcelados, en particular aquellos que están siendo expulsados de este país sin el debido proceso y aquellos que están siendo expulsados a pesar de estar en procesos de inmigración legales además de sufrir violencia durante su expulsión.

Encomendamos a tu misericordia todos que han muerto, especialmente aquellos que han fallecido bajo custodia del ICE en el último año, que tu desea para ellos estará completado; y oremos que todos nosotros compartimos con todos los santos en tu reino .
