This Sunday:

We will have a special remembrance of our former pastor - Fr Bill Halbing, at our 10am Mass this Sunday, February 23. This is the 3rd Anniversary of his death. As many of you already know, Fr Bill was the pastor of St. Antoninus Church from 1999- 2012. Fr Bill was Scripture scholar and an amazing teacher and preacher, and a holy man of God. We thank the Lord for his contribution in keeping the Charismatic Renewal alive and vibrant here at St Antoninus Church. Please invite anyone you know who knew him.

Following is Fr Joseph Meagher's homily during the Christian Burial of Fr Bill Halbing three years ago at Mary, Mother of God Church in Middletown NJ . This is a beautiful tribute to Fr Bill and a message for all of us. And below this is a brief pictorial slide show in remembrance of Fr Bill.

The distribution of ashes will take place during these liturgies.

The time has now come in the Church year for the solemn observance of Lent, the great central act of the redemption of the human race by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

In the Roman Rite, the beginning of the forty days of penance is marked with the austere symbol of ashes which is used in this liturgy. The ashes symbolize the dust from which God made us.

As the priest applies the ashes to a person's forehead, he speaks the words: "Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return."

Alternatively, the priest may speak the words, "Repent and believe in the Gospel ."

Regulations for Fasting & Abstinence:

Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are obligatory days of fasting and abstinence for Catholics. In addition, Fridays during Lent are obligatory days of abstinence.

For members of the Latin Catholic Church, the norms on fasting are obligatory from age 18 until age 59. When fasting, a person is permitted to eat one full meal, as well as two smaller meals that together are not equal to a full meal. The norms concerning abstinence from meat are binding upon members of the Latin Catholic Church from age 14 onwards (From the USCCB website )

This Lent, Fr. Josh will offer daily video reflections in the Ascension App as part of the program Set Free: Daily Lenten Reflections to Overcome the Seven Deadly Sins.

Participants will learn how the seven deadly sins underlie every other sin they struggle with, and discover strategies to overcome and root out each of the deadly sins at its source.

Set Free builds upon Fr. Josh’s new book, Pocket Guide to Overcoming the Seven Deadly Sins, also published by Ascension.

The Catechism identifies the seven deadly sins as wrath, sloth, gluttony, lust, greed, envy, and pride.

These vices are “deadly” because they are the fountainheads from which all the other sins in our lives originate.

This action plan will help you learn the seven deadly sins—what they are and how they appear in our lives.

It will prepare you for Lent by outlining specific fasts you can use to combat each one of the sins and grow in discipline and trust in God.



Finally, it will show you how to pray with scripture and surrender your sin to God.

It ends with a powerful, step-by-step examination of conscience, which will help you have a deeper and truly profound experience of the sacrament of confession.

This class part of what is called RCIA.   RCIA stands for: “Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults.”

This program is for:

- Those adults 17 years old and older who are not baptized and want to inquire about becoming Catholic OR

- Those who are baptized non-Catholic Christians who want to consider becoming Catholic. OR

- Adult Catholics (17 years or older) who have not received Confirmation or Holy Communion.

INFANT BAPTISM. Expectant parents should call the office to register for the baptism of your baby. and for baptism classes with Fr Joseph. Baptisms at St Antoninus Church are celebrated during Sunday 10am Mass.. DOWNLOAD form needed before scheduling any meetings with the pastor.

CATECHISM CLASSES FOR CHILDREN - take place on Sundays, from 8:00am to 9:45am. (new hours)

Monthly Charismatic Healing Mass in Spanish at 7:30pm every 2nd Friday of the Month.
