Lenten Devotionals
Welcome to the 2019 edition of Lenten Devotions that have been lovingly and prayerfully prepared for you by the Elders, Deacons, and Ministers of First Christian Church.

Travel with us through the 47 days of Lent as we share with you our personal stories and thoughts on faith and the experiences we have had in our journeys with Christ.

May God bless you and keep you!
Scripture: “But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they went to the tomb, taking the spices which they had prepared.” (Luke 24:1, RSV)

April 21
Day 47

Daylight Savings Time, I’m not a fan. As I write this, it has not happened but by the time you read this, it will be in place.

Because Daylight Savings Time ‘adds’ an hour of daylight towards the end of the day, it changes how we see things, and it’s radical, it is literally overnight. It used to be dark and now it is light, it’s still 7 pm, but it’s different.

Easter is the ultimate time changer, and Easter changes our perspective forever.

God raised Jesus from the dead and changed all of our perspectives. No longer can sin separate us from God. No longer do we need fear death. It may have been dark when the women went to the tomb, but the everlasting light of God’s grace is here to stay. Hallelujah, Christ Is Risen!

Prayer: Gracious and loving God, thank You for the victory of the Resurrection and all that it means. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
