The Joshua Anthology is a striking visualization of life, faith, and struggle. What first strikes me in the image is the chaos. The golden sky – the presence of the divine – battling with dark clouds, the cities burning, the ghostly figures drifting through the river.
It reminds me, strangely enough, of life at home with three young children sometimes. There are days when the house feels like it's bursting at the seams with noise, motion, and mess. Toys everywhere, snack crumbs underfoot, someone yelling for help with a LEGO piece while another melts down because the banana broke in half.
And yet—there’s this moment every morning when I open the blinds for the first time and let the sunlight pour in. Even if the living room is still a wreck, something changes. The light lands across the floor and on the faces of these little humans, and for a moment, the chaos feels a little softer, a little more beautiful. That sunlight feels like a quiet message from God: I am with you. Keep going.
Even in the most chaotic moments—whether in the wilderness of ancient Israel, the turmoil of Lent, or the messiness of everyday life—God is with us waiting to shine through.
