To seek God, and be Christ’s body in the world
Preparing for Sunday

For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life.
- John 3:16

Sunday's Gospel... "reflects on the symbols of light and darkness; the light stands for good while darkness stands for evil. Jesus is the light of world and the Gospel calls us to “come to the light” so that our “works may be clearly seen as done in God.” We can use the examples of the Apostles from today’s reading. They were called to spread the Gospel, but the high priest put them in prison, a place of darkness. During the night, the angel of the Lord released them into the light and they continued to preach the Gospel. Although God is there to guide us to live and love with him, it is certainly difficult to remain in a place of light especially since the world around us is oftentimes a place of darkness. It is our challenge as people of faith to let God help us live in the light and to remove obstacles of darkness from our lives so that we may remain in that light."

In the darkness, we stumble toward you, O God, not knowing where we go or who, in you, we really will find. You meet us here. You reach into the sorrows and questions that compel us to seek you in the dark, and you offer us new life. This new life comes from struggle, as does all life. It springs from mystery, as only life in you can. Love is the source of this life. And that love is you. For this truth, we are eternally grateful. Amen.

Soup Cook

Please join us this Saturday, March 7th, in the Bolingbroke kitchen beginning at 10:00am for a morning of soup making. Bring a large pot and your favorite knife (everything else will be provided), and we'll have a lot of fun chopping, stirring, seasoning and creating wonderful soups for the Great Valley Food Cupboard. Can't make the group cook? You can still participate by making soup at home. Sign up for the week you'd like to contribute and pick up some containers. Please contact Pam Faber if you have any questions.
Sunday School
Jesus and the Old Testament

The children and youth continue to look at the teachings of Jesus through the lens of the Old Testament. This week we will be continuing to use Lego type building blocks to create and photograph more scenes. Children ages 3 and older are invited to join us in the large Sunday School room at 9:30 AM. Megan will also be available to babysit babies and preschoolers up to age 3. We have Megablocks for that age group so everyone can start working on Bible scenes! Please contact Ms. Deb if you have questions or would like to participate.
Lent Brown Bags
Make Lent Special

If you did not pick up a brown bag for your family last week, there is still time to consider your Lenten observance. The bag has suggestions and items to make this Lent a reflective and holy time for all ages in your family. Look for bags on a table in the Gurley Room.

Thank You
A Note of Appreciation

Ms. Deb was on vacation in February, and thanks everyone who helped with our Sunday School and music programs. Abby, Liz, Barb, Megan, and Elizabeth all led on various days. Emily, Sherrill, and Maggie managed children’s choir, the Sunday School room logistics, and communications. It was wonderful to return to enthusiastic children who shared treats, a "welcome back" card, and best of all they taught me about the Bible stories they'd learned. The picture is of them in masks representing the plagues in Egypt. It was a lovely homecoming. Sincerely, Ms. Deb
