Monday - First Week of Lent
February 19, 2018
Leviticus 19: 1-2,11-18
In this reading, we receive the law of God in the Ten Commandments. We recite these laws, one at a time from the time we are young children. A good exercise during Lent, would be to take time and really become aware of how each commandment affects us in our daily lives. We can find our strengths and short comings by an exercise like this. We must always remember that Our Lord is God.
In Psalm 19:8-10-15
We learn that the law of God is perfect. Lord, my rock and my redeemer.
This psalm makes the laws much easier for me to understand.
To tie it all together...
Matthew 25: 31-46
I look to this reading as a great outline as to how I am able to put the works of mercy into practice.
Lent is such a good time for each one of us to take an inventory of ourselves and our daily deeds. It also gives us the chance to renew our prayer life.
