Journey through Lent 2018 at St. Anthony's
REFLECTIONS FROM THE PEWS
Thursday - First Week of Lent
February 22, 2018

First Peter seems to be addressed to "Official Leaders" - presbyters - but at my baptism into Christ, I became a part of a "Royal Priesthood" and hear the word to charge me to minister in my daily life, willingly, lovingly and eagerly not seeking personal reward or profit, but generously.

This is the kind of shepherd Psalm 23 speaks of - a God who lovingly cares for his flock and each sheep - even Me. Supplying my needs and blessing my life with goodness and kindness, walking with me in good times and bad - and in the end taking me home to be with Him forever.

And so- in the Gospel - Jesus - the fulfillment of all of this asks Peter and the others and me too - "Who do people say I am- Who do you Mary say I am." Peter answers as I do, "You are the Christ, the son of the living God."

Thank you Father God for teaching my heart the truth of this. Help me to daily live into it and act upon it.
