Dear friends,
On this Ash Wednesday, the beginning of the liturgical season of Lent in the Christian calendar, we enter into a time of reflection, contemplation, and for some, renunciation. This is also a time of preparation, as we hold in our hearts the realities of both suffering and redemptive love, existing side by side.
As we look at our earth, the suffering is never hard to see. We are bombarded daily with bad news, with a world that seems so broken and so unjust. And yet there is also love to be found at every turn — in our relationships and our nurturing of one another. Last week, we hosted an event with author Debra Rienstra focused on refugia, and we hope you'll join us in our spring programs as we continue to explore how we might become places of shelter and resilience for one another.
We have many opportunities for you to connect with us in the coming weeks! In March, we'll host a day-long, online Refugia Faith Lenten Retreat, and April brings another Lament with Earth, the start of our EcoSpiritual Leaders course, and an in-person Wonder and Wander at Tir na nOg Farm in Pownal, Maine.
Finally, if you are seeking some daily inspiration on your own Lenten journey this year, please sign up for our daily Earthing Lent reflection emails. We hope that these, along with our programs, will offer you spaciousness in this season of contemplation.
With best wishes,
