Lenten meditation for April 1, 2021

I am still not sure how time has let me become mostly retired. Nonetheless, I can’t complain because I was able to go right here in town to get the Pfizer shot. Amazing to think that I am among the first wave of Americans to be vaccinated against the Coronavirus that has plagued our country--and the world--for more than a year.

I admit I was skeptical at first: How is it possible that they developed an effective vaccine so quickly? You can’t rush the science, I thought. But then I kept reading and learned about the international level of cooperation and collaboration and rigorous peer review that made it possible.

I decided to step out in faith and listen to the angels: Those voices of reason who told us there are researchers who knew this day would come. People already working hard and long to develop new strategies to combat the causes of so many diseases, people who then pivoted, seeking to control this virus.
Bless those whose scientific know-how and strict protocols made the vaccines possible -- and to all who continue to make sure they are delivered into arms.

There is HOPE.
Thanks be to God!
