Spending increases significantly in the final month of a campaign. While small donors are my lifeline, I'd urge you to consider a bigger investment. I'd be happy to call and discuss.

Endorsements can be important - it just depends on the organization! I have received the endorsement of the GNO AFL-CIO, VOTE (Voice of the Experienced), the Alliance for Good Government, and New Orleans Coalition. These groups help with boots on the ground, some with money, some with media. They are respected and they truly support their candidates. 

Last week I received the endorsement of the Green ARMY and earned their highest score among my House colleagues for "ardent resistance to carbon capture lobbyists and steadfast commitment to the social and civil rights of all Louisianans." Green ARMY is an alliance of groups led by Lt. Gen. Russell Honore, and they fight for clean air and water in our state. I am grateful for what Gen. Honore did for our city after Hurricane Katrina, and I am so honored that Green ARMY endorsed me!

The Louisiana Department of Insurance's Fortified Roof Program is opening on October 2 - for Citizens policyholders only. If this is you, please create an online profile as soon as possible.

Fortified roofs are specialized roofs that can withstand a category 4 hurricane. Installing one will reduce your premium, as most property claims are for roofs. This year the legislature approved funding for $10,000 grants for fortified roofs for homeowners. Half of these grants will be set aside for Citizens policyholders. The application process for everyone else will open later in the year.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by Urban South and brought items to donate to New Orleans women who are unhoused. We packed up a huge amount of items for Director Nate Fields of the City's Office of Homeless Services and Strategy. I will let you know when items will be requested in the future.

During this year's legislative session, I was able to secure $600,000 for the city's Pathways Youth Internship Program. Last week I went to the graduation of the latest cohorts of this amazing, high success rate program. Pathways is a year-round workforce readiness and personal development program for 14-17 year olds who have become involved in the criminal legal system. They are provided with mentoring, paid work internships, workshops focused on conflict resolution, mindfulness, and soft skills development.
