"Money's OK, but what I really like is working."
- Stan Lee
Lessons Learned from Our One-of-a-Kind CEO
After working in production in NYC, Aspen, Co., and San Francisco, Linda Maslow moved to Washington, D.C. in the late 1970's, hoping to pursue further work in the television industry.

Instead, she revolutionized it.

Founded in 1988, the then woman-owned and -operated Maslow Media Group grew into one of the industry's most respected payroll, staffing, crewing, managed services, and video production companies, not only in D.C., but throughout the nation. With a client roster that boasted everyone from international broadcasters to Federal Government agencies to major corporations, Linda and her team did - and continue to do - it all.

On May 10, she will take a step off screen, when she retires as CEO.

There are many great business lessons to be learned from Linda's years of experience, including those spent at the helm of Maslow Media Group. Here are four of the most impactful:
Director of Photography Jean Renaud
Maslow Media Group was proud to provide freelance field production technicians for the Office of Cable Television's Emancipation Day Concert at Freedom Plaza on Saturday, April 8.

The event marked the 155th anniversary of the abolition of slavery in the Nation's Capital.  Washington, D.C.  Mayor Muriel Bowser and top celebrities were on hand to celebrate.

Big Apple Legislation Highlights Core Risks of Hiring Freelancers

New York City recently passed "FIFA," or the Freelance Isn't Free Act. The first-ever legislation of its kind, FIFA is set to go into effect in mid-May this year, and will protect independent contractors from alleged wage theft. It quite possibly could pave the way for similar legislation across the country.

For businesses, this is yet another sign that the risk of using independent contractors has never been greater. For tips and tricks on navigating this potential minefield, contact Maslow Media Group.

MMG has the answers to all of your questions regarding payroll, contractors, compliance, and more. And follow the link below to learn more about New York City's new law.
MMG Executive Search

MMG takes pride in its Executive Search Division. We specialize in media managers, execs in charge of production, and all levels of technical and creative production talent below the line. We have been doing this since 1988 and we know where to find these professionals when you need one.

The cost of using a payroll service is potentially lower in the long run than not using one. Penalties for misclassifying a freelance worker far outweigh the cost of hiring a third party 'employer of record' to handle these problems. Contact Maslow Media Group today. We're your one source for payroll and staffing solutions. Call 202-965-1100!

So Long, Farewell...

Even though I hailed from an extensive film and television background, nothing could ever have prepared me for what a major production running a business turned out to be.

Fortunately, I have received major inspiration along the way.

To the members of the production community that Maslow Media Group has hired, placed, and/or paid throughout our 28 years of business - you have my deepest gratitude. Working with such talented people, admiring your persistence, and helping you reach your goals has yielded a much greater purpose for this company than I ever thought possible.

And to the most amazing staff of people who work for Maslow Media Group, and will continue to do incredible work for our current and future clients in the days to come - bravo. Believe in yourselves. Believe in each other. Keep doing great things.

It's hard to believe, but is also 100 percent true: I remember almost every single person who ever signed, worked, or collaborated with me throughout this wild journey.

It's safe to say that I will never forget any of you, either.

Enjoy the show,
- Linda
