Lessons on our Eternal Identity

Inspired by Sunday's Gospel reading on Jesus' raising of Lazarus, L.J. Milone writes, "Whether we have a near-death experience or a nearing-death experience or neither, we can let go into God right now."

Scrutinies

Celebration of the Second Scrutiny last Sunday, March 19 at the 11am Mass with Fr. Tim Kesicki, SJ (above), and at the 1pm Mass with Fr. Benson (see Ministerio Hispano)

The Scrutinies

On Sunday, March 12 we celebrated the First Scrutiny at the 11am Mass that welcomed three RCIA Elect (those seeking Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist): Andre Gouyet, Aliye Garrett, and Lane Hudson. At the 1pm Spanish Mass, the First Scrutiny also welcomed three Elect: Shaylee Marie Gómez, Giovanni Alvarez Ceron, and Brian Mateo Alvarez Ceron. The Gospel reading was the story of Jesus’ encounter with the Samaritan woman at the well. In this reading, Jesus directs us to worship God in the Spirit

Last Sunday, March 19 at these two Masses, we celebrated the Second Scrutiny for our RCIA Elect (photos above). The Gospel reading was the story of the man born blind. In this reading, Jesus offers true sight, to see Reality. Jesus gives us eyes to realize where the Real lies.

This Sunday, March 26 at the 11am and 1pm Masses, we celebrate the Third Scrutiny. The Gospel reading is the story of Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead. Through this story, we come to know that Jesus communicates the fullness of divine life. All that is required of us is simple faith.

Lord, we pray that all coming into the Church at the Easter Vigil will worship God in the Spirit as Jesus teaches, see with the true sight that he offers, and accept in simple faith the fullness of divine life that he communicates.
