Banned Books Week, from October 1-7, celebrates the freedom to read and spotlights current and historical attempts to censor books in libraries and schools. Redwood City Public Library stands against book banning. We center our service priorities around inclusive programs, services and books that lead to equitable outcomes for members of the highly diverse community we serve. Below are a few ways you can participate in Banned Books Week.
1. Enjoy a banned book! We’ve compiled a list of the Top Banned Books of 2023 and the American Library Association lists the top 100 of the last decade here
2. Join the discussion at a Library Book Group:

Discussing Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson
Adults Book Club

3. Attend Redwood City Library Foundation’s Upscale Pub Crawl on October 11 from 5-9pm to learn about banned books and have some fun while supporting the Library Foundation. Get your tickets here
