Hello Glastonbury!

Now that summer is in full-swing, we’re excited to be celebrating our reading prize-winners, handing out this year’s summer reading t-shirts, and enjoying the air conditioning during the heat waves. I love that Libraries are cooling centers as well as information centers during times of need – another way we can support our community! Speaking of summer, thank you for joining us at our Summer Reading kickoff event in June – over 450 people celebrated with us! If you haven’t joined the Summer Reading Club yet, it’s not too late- register to win prizes as you read. Registration is open now through August 9th.

In addition, as promised, the Library of Things is now active! Have a party planned and need a screen to show a movie? A pile of papers that need digitizing? A slumber party that would be more fun with karaoke? Now the Library can help! And just like our museum passes, you can reserve the items ahead of time for a specific date, so you can plan ahead. Currently, you can check out a telescope, a karaoke machine, a flatbed scanner, a metal detector, a projector, and a projector screen along with your books and DVDs. More items will be added to the collection over time with a variety of interests in mind. Have suggestions for additional items that we should consider adding to the Library of Things? Let me know

Happy summer,

Amy

"COLOR OUR WORLD" SUMMER READING at WTML!

Color Our World

June 16 - August 9

The Welles-Turner Library invites your whole family to add a splash of color to your summer with the Color Our World Summer Reading Club! The Library’s Summer Reading Club offers programs for children, teens and adults who may earn a T-shirt simply by reading. Even babies have a special program just for them! We encourage reading throughout the summer in all formats – books, e-books, and audiobooks, on your own or together as a family, and offer colorful prizes and events along the way to help us all stay motivated.  Register online or at the Library any time before August 9.

Generous support for the Summer Reading Program courtesy of The Friends of the Welles-Turner Memorial Library.
