2021 Pennsylvania River of the Year

Our amazing Lehigh, which we know and love and celebrate as the lifeblood of our region, is one of FIVE finalists for this special recognition!
 
Presented annually since 1983, the Pennsylvania Organization for Watersheds and Rivers (POWR), an affiliate of the Pennsylvania Environmental Council, administers the River of the Year program with funding from the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR).

The winning river is awarded $10,000 in grants which will go towards the promotion of river-related programming that supports the recreational, economic, health and environmental benefits of the waterway to our community!

Our first preserve (acquired in 1973), South Mountain is 350+ acres, contains history rich with Lenni Lenape culture, and played a locally important role during the industrial revolution.
