LET IT GO!

You must put away all bitterness, anger, wrath, quarreling, and slanderous talk—indeed all malice. Instead, be kind to one another, compassionate, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ also forgave you.

~Ephesians 4; 31-32

Sometimes righteous anger can feel good for a while. But left unresolved it can eat away at you like weather rusts metal. You become crusty and unattractive, and your insides may hurt.

Sometimes righteous anger comes from political and social issues. You can fuss and fret and talk to others who agree with you, but that changes nothing except your blood pressure. If you can do something about the issue, do it! Write a letter to a government official or to the local newspaper, but not until your anger settles down. Contact you Representatives and talk to them. When you have done everything you can, put it in God’s hands.

Often the anger and bitterness come from a friend, or acquaintance. The same method applies, instead of fussing and fuming which is not good for our health, think through what happened. If you can, talk to the person about your feelings. Remember they might now know how you feel. If you can’t, remember you are a child of God and what others do or think, they can’t diminish you unless you let them. What we feel towards someone is never felt by the person we are angry with. Then we are truly hurting only ourselves.

Whatever brings you to anger, let it go! Give it to God first and trust him to make things right. If you can do this, you will find a mighty blessing. Your angst and bitterness will be gone, and your face can shine with the love of God.

It isn’t easy. But when you understand that it is in your own best interests, AND it is what God wants, it can be done.

Let it go! Give it to God. You will find peace and consolation in God’s great care.

Come unto me all you who are burdened and heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

~Matthew 11:28
