Welcome to Endaayaan – Tkanónsote.
Endaayaan – Tkanónsote (pronounced: End-ah-yawn – t-gaw-noon-so-day) means "Our Home" in the Anishinaabemowin (Ojibway) and Kanyen’kéha (Mohawk) languages. It is our newest 334-bed residence which opened in September 2022.

The residence features culturally significant elements, including a courtyard with a turtle sculpture, symbolizing Turtle Island, a term used by some Indigenous peoples to refer to North America. Benches embedded with the Two Row Wampum belt represent the earliest treaty agreement between the Haudenosaunee and Dutch settlers, emphasizing mutual respect and coexistence.
Endaayaan – Tkanónsote honours Indigenous traditions, signifies the university's dedication to reconciliation and inclusion, and reminds each of us of our ongoing responsibility to learn about and care for the land we share.
| | Looking for the Endaayaan – Tkanónsote Community Room? | We host many events in the Endaayaan – Tkanónsote Community Room, so it’s no surprise if you’re wondering how to find it! Simply enter through the front doors of the brown brick building at 142 Albert Street, attached to Endaayaan – Tkanónsote. December Mail Delivery
As December approaches, please note that there will be no mail or parcel services during the Winter Break closure.
To ensure you receive any orders before the break, please plan accordingly and stop placing new orders by December 8. This cutoff will allow enough time for items to arrive on campus before closing.

Conduct Corner: Fire and Life Safety Reminder
Fire and life safety equipment is not something to mess with. Room detectors are highly sensitive and can be triggered by steam from hair straighteners, irons, or even hot showers.
To avoid accidental alarms:
- Ensure proper ventilation when using heat appliances or showering.
-
Never tamper with safety equipment. It’s a violation of your Residence Contract.
False alarms don’t just cause damage – they send everyone outside in the cold. Let’s keep our community safe and warm!

Myth Buster: Is It Really Too Late to Sign a Lease for Next Year?
You might hear that if you haven’t signed a lease by now, you’ll miss out on housing for next year — but that’s not true.
In Kingston, most rental listings appear between December and February, once current tenants decide whether to renew or move. Many leases end in April, and by law, tenants must give 60 days’ notice. This means landlords often confirm availability in late winter.
What does this mean for you?
- There’s still plenty of time to find housing.
- Waiting can give you access to more options.
-
You have time to plan, find roommates, and make informed decisions.
Bottom line: Don’t rush. Do your research, explore your options, and choose what’s right for you.
