Hurricane season is here, and whether you are a new Floridian or a lifelong resident, the one thing we all know from hurricanes is that the only thing you can control is how prepared you are.

While we all hope for a mild season, knowledge and organization are your best superpowers if we find ourselves in the path of a storm.

We've compiled some links and information, so you have these resources centralized, and we've included a fill-in PDF that you can save to your computer or phone, to keep your insurance information, and other vital contacts in one place, and easy to access.

Should we find Palm Beach County facing the aftermath of a storm, my staff and I will do all we can to keep you connected to information and resources available at all levels of government.

Stay informed and safe!

My best,

~ Sara

Alert PBC is Palm Beach County's Emergency Notification System that allows residents to get critical notifications via phone calls, text messages, and emails.

If you're not already signed up for Alert PBC, now is a great time to get connected. They will keep you updated throughout hurricane season, as soon as information becomes available.

We've developed a fill-in PDF form for you to use to gather all of your critical storm information in one place. Filling in the form, and saving it to your phone, cloud account, or emailing it to yourself and family members can assist you with getting the recovery process underway, even if temporarily displaced.

The information on this form is not saved to any County site or resource. Any information filled in is only saved to your personal device.

Being prepared for a few days of post-storm life can reduce your stress in the days leading up to the storm, allowing you to focus on the preparations that can only be done in the hours before anticipated effects. Here is a list of recommended supplies to have on hand:

A key element of having your plan in place for hurricane season is planning for where you and your loved ones will go in the event of a high threat storm. If you have family members or neighbors who may have special needs, now is a great time to help them make sure they have pre-registered for a shelter environment that can make sure their health needs are met during and after a storm.

In the face of a storm, know that there is no need to leave your family pets behind! Plan for them now, in one of PBC's Pet Friendly Shelters. Know that it is a first come, first serve shelter, based on available space, so act early.

Knowing what zone you are in is important as storms approach, to assist you with assessing evacuation needs and nearest resources. Here are some links to help you KNOW YOUR ZONE!

In the wake of a hurricane-impacted area, local resources are often the first line of defense in the recovery process. Here are some resources that will be accessible to Palm Beach County residents and businesses.

Neighbors helping neighbors are often the most powerful stories we see after storms have affected our area. Palm Beach County has an unparalleled Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). If you'd like to be a part of helping your neighbors by assisting with local storm response, you can apply here:
