Our Cells are the Building Blocks ~ That Heal Themselves
- They are the building blocks of our bodies
- We have trillions of cells
- They provide structure for our bodies
- Our cells are fed nutrients from our food
- Cells convert these nutrients into energy
- Our cells carry out specialized instructions
The 9 different parts of our cells:
-
Cytoplasm ~ jelly-like fluid surrounding the nucleus of the cell
-
Cytoskeleton ~ network of strong fibers making up the cell's structural network
-
ER (Endo-Plasmic Reticulum) ~ helps process molecules created by the cell
-
Golgi Apparatus ~ packages molecules processed by (ER) to be transported out of the cell
-
Lysosomes & and Perixsomes ~ recycling center of the cell ~ rid the cell of toxic substances and recycle worn-out cell components
-
Mitochondria ~ converts energy from food into a form the cell can use
-
Nucleus ~ Our cell's command center sends directions to our cells to grow, mature, divide, or die
-
Plasma Membrane ~ the outer lining of our cells ~ separates our cells from our environment ~ and allows materials to enter and leave
-
Ribosomes ~ process the cell's genetic instructions to create proteins
