As our temperatures jump from the 40’s to the 70’s let’s pretend it’s Spring before the pollen comes.
Visit the Daffodils at Dix Park. The daffodils bloom from February to March. They are planted in the Flowers Field off Umstead Drive behind the Flower Cottage and near the historic cemetery. Click Here for Map.

Take in the grand skyline view of downtown Raleigh while enjoying this 11-acres of open rolling lawn where a ribbon of daffodils blooms through the middle of the field. This is a popular spot for picnics, pick-up games and walking dogs. Picnic Tables are available.

Weekday Public Parking is available in the gravel lot on Hunt Drive. On weeknights and weekends, park visitors are welcome to use any paved lot. You can walk or bike to the park. Dix Park is located on the Rocky Branch Greenway.
Know Before You Go
- Visitors are welcome to visit the daffodils seven days-a-week, from dawn until dusk.
- Please stay on the grass paths in the field and keep children and pets from straying into the daffodils.
- Please do not pick the flowers!
- Please keep your pup (or other pets) on-leash and pick up after them.
- To see the daffodils up close, walking up and down hills, in grass and on uneven surfaces will be necessary. (Recommending closed-toe shoes)
- Port-a-johns are the only restroom available in the park and are located at Flowers Field and the Big Field.
- The Flower Cottage is operated by the Dorothea Dix Park Conservancy and is not open to the public.
- Professional photographers are welcome to have sessions at the park.

Bailey’s Fine Jewelry’s A Time to Give Program Raises More than $84,000
Bailey’s Fine Jewelry donated $84,269.89 to local charities in 2021 through the jeweler’s A Time to Give program, the most in program history, even during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. A Time to Give was created by the Bailey family as a way to give back to the local community, while providing watch battery replacements to patrons.
A Time to Give provides customers with a complimentary watch battery replacement and in exchange requests a donation be made to that month’s designated charity. Each month Bailey’s selects a different non-profit organization to receive the donations from A Time to Give.
Since its inception in 2008, Bailey’s has donated more than $905,000 to the communities where Bailey’s stores are located (Raleigh, Rocky Mount and Greenville) through A Time to Give.
A Time to Give is one of the unique ways in which Bailey’s demonstrates its dedication to serve the surrounding communities, as well as providing a service to its patrons. Bailey’s is a store steeped in family tradition that strives to bring a fun-loving approach to the jewelry business.
“Our family is so blessed to live and work in such amazing communities in North Carolina and it’s an honor to be able to give back to them,” said Trey Bailey of Bailey’s Fine Jewelry. “Our patrons showed up in a huge way last year, making 2021 A Time to Give’s most successful year yet. We’re thrilled to be able to donate to some incredible organizations doing truly impactful work every day.”
In 2021, Bailey’s donated through A Time to Give to various North Carolina chapters of charities, including: American Heart Association, Relay for Life, A Place at the Table, United Community Ministries, Operation Resolute, Salvation Army, Meals on Wheels, Operation Christmas Child and more.

TheBeltlineBuzz items are selected by our editors. No one can pay to be featured on TheBeltlineBuzz. That's what advertising is for, and it's always labeled as such. Selling ourselves (literally) would destroy the legitimacy, integrity, and fun of TheBeltlineBuzz. Plus, we'd never earn your trust that way. So we'll never make a dime off your meal at a restaurant nor a penny from the sale of the latest accessory we told you about.
That said, on occasion, we will send out "Dedicated" emails on behalf of sponsors. You'll recognize them from the subject line: " TheBeltlineBuzz Dedicated Email." Yes, these are paid for. And, no, we would never sell our subscriber list to anyone. Not for any amount of money.
We hope that you continue to enjoy your Beltline Buzz. We look forward to delivering it.
