After a challenging stretch of weather, we are excited to share that temperatures are returning to more seasonal conditions — and that means we are back in action and working hard to bring back an amazing season for our members.
With cooler temperatures settling in, we have been able to restart regular grooming operations and fire up the snowguns once again. Our goal remains simple: ensure our members can ski, even when climate change tries to work against us. Snowmaking gives us resilience, and when paired with smart grooming and a committed team, it allows us to protect and rebuild the skiing experience we all love.
Peter, our incredible Trails Manager, has been in full multitasking mode. While running the snowguns, he has also been heading out to some of our favorite trails — pulling in snow, redistributing it, and quite literally bringing them back to life. You will start to see renewed life on Tigger, Top Dog, and Fingers, with more improvements happening each day.
With every cooler night, every small snowfall, and every hour of snowmaking, winter strengthens its grip a little more. We are building momentum again.
Thank you for your patience, your understanding, and your continued support. It truly makes a difference. Together, we will bring winter back — and finish this season strong.
See you on the trails.

Despite some weather challenges that forced us to extend Week 2 of the Grand Tour, our members continued to get out, explore the trails, and log their kilometres. That resilience is exactly what the Grand Tour is all about!
Congratulations to our Week 2 winners:
- Charlene Gilroy
- Erik Jensen
- Annika Putt
Thank you for participating and embracing the adventure — even when winter kept us guessing.
A big thank you to our good friends at Stride & Glide Sports and Tourism PG for generously providing this week’s prizes. We truly appreciate your continued support of our club and community initiatives.
And the adventure continues! Grand Tour Week 3 returns on February 16, so get ready to head back out on the trails, collect those checkpoints, and keep the momentum going.
| Our Programs are Back on Skis!! | |
There is something special about the sound of skis sliding on snow — and it is back.
We are thrilled to share that Bunnies, Jack Rabbits, Jackalopes, Track Attack, Junior Racers, Biathlon, and Masters have all returned to skis.
After a challenging stretch of unpredictable weather and creative alternative training sessions, it feels incredible to see our programs back where they love to be — out on the trails.
While many of us were counting down the days to click back into skis, we did hear some disappointment from a few of our younger athletes who had grown quite fond of the gym sessions, snowshoe adventures, and creative dryland games! Their enthusiasm, no matter the activity, speaks volumes about the strength of our program culture.
This season has tested all of us. Conditions shifted quickly, plans changed often, and flexibility became the theme. We are so grateful to our coaches for their adaptability, positivity, and commitment to keeping kids active and engaged no matter what Mother Nature delivered. Our athletes and families showed tremendous patience and support throughout it all.
It was a tough stretch — but together, we weathered it.
And now, seeing smiles back on skis reminds us why we do this. Winter is meant to be experienced, and there is no better place to do it than on our trails.

As many members know, our dog trails are made possible through a collaborative partnership between Caledonia Nordic Ski Club and Terus Construction.
Terus is currently in need of gravel and has begun expanding their extraction pit. This work has now directly impacted the lower section of our dog-only trail.
I was out skiing the dog trails and can confirm that Lower Dog On It is no longer skiable — it is fully gone. Barriers and fencing have been installed, and we ask that everyone please respect them. There is no benefit to going beyond the fencing, as the trail does not reconnect — you will simply need to turn back.
Looking ahead, we will be making adjustments to the trail network in the spring and fall to ensure this lower section can once again support future skiing and dog-friendly use once work is complete.
These partnerships are critical to maintaining and growing our trail network. We truly appreciate your cooperation, patience, and respect for the closures while this work is underway.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

We are excited to invite members and the broader community to an Avalanche Awareness Night, hosted in partnership with Prince George Search and Rescue, Ruckus, Avalanche Canada, and our friends at Overhang.
This evening is designed to be hands-on, informative, and accessible for anyone who spends time in the winter backcountry. Our Transceiver Park will be set up in the Dog Trail field area, offering participants the opportunity to practice avalanche transceiver skills in a realistic, supportive environment. This will be followed by short presentations, demos, prizes, snacks, and beverages.
Skiers, sledders, and snowshoers are all welcome — whether you’re brand new to avalanche gear or just looking to refresh your skills. As winters become increasingly unpredictable and snowpacks more unstable, opportunities like this are more important than ever.
Come learn, practice, ask questions, and connect with others who love getting outside in winter. We look forward to seeing you there.

Nothing cures the rainy-day blues quite like a little online shopping — especially when it comes with neon vibes and Nordic pride.
Caledonia Nordic club clothing is available online, featuring our new retro 80s–inspired logo. Bold colours, classic vibes, and plenty of Nordic pride.
Thanks to our partnership with Sprague Skate Shop, there’s a great lineup of apparel to choose from: zip-ups, pullovers, t-shirts, toques, and more — perfect for the trails or everyday wear.
Orders are placed online and typically take about two weeks to complete. It’s an easy way to support your club, support local, and look good doing it.
Have a look, place an order, and wear your Caledonia pride loud and proud — rain, snow, or sunshine.

While winter keeps us guessing, planning for March 2026 is well underway — and it’s shaping up to be a big one.
From March 5–8, 2026, Caledonia Nordic Ski Club will welcome athletes from across Canada, the U.S., and beyond for a combined IBU Regional Event, Western Canadian Biathlon Championships, and BC Provincial Championships. It will be one of the largest biathlon events hosted at Caledonia and an exciting opportunity to showcase our club, trails, and community.
Events like this only come together with the help of dedicated volunteers. Whether you’re available for a single shift or interested in being more involved across the week, every role plays a part in creating a great experience for athletes, officials, and spectators.
If you would like to be involved, we would love to have you on the team.
Volunteer registration is open here:

Thanks for continuing to support Caledonia Nordic and helping us deliver high-level events right here at home.

On Wednesday evening, after getting all of our SDP kids happily back on skis (which was awesome to see), I found myself inspired by a simple scene near the rental shop — skis stacked, poles lined up, that familiar organized chaos that means winter is alive again.
Lately, I have been experimenting with Q-tip art — using cotton swabs and paint to build images dot by dot. It is a slow, patient process, but there is something pretty satisfying about watching an image come to life one small dab at a time.
So I grabbed a chair, some paints, a handful of Q-tips, and tried to capture the feeling of that moment — the colors, the energy, and the reminder that skis are back in action.
It is amazing how much inspiration can come from the everyday scenes around the club.
Sometimes winter gives us perfect corduroy.
Sometimes it gives us challenges.
And sometimes it gives us a reason to sit down with a few Q-tips and create something fun.
See you on the trails — and maybe in the art studio.
