Stop Farm Bill from cutting programs that help people put food on the table
The U.S. House of Representatives is expected to vote any day now on the disastrous Farm Bill.

The Farm Bill — the most consequential food policy legislation in America — is updated every five years. The 2018 bill was released by the House Agriculture Committee a few weeks ago. It includes huge cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program ( SNAP) that will take food away from children and seniors, as well as veterans and working families, making it even harder for them to get back on their feet.

On May 8th, anti-hunger advocates across the country are joining together to tell Congress to say ‘NO’ to these cuts. You can help ensure that calls flood in!
What you can do:
  • Call your U.S. representative and ask them to vote against the Farm Bill when it comes to the floor. (If you live in Congressman Jim McGovern’s district, call or email him to thank him for speaking out against this harsh bill.)
  • Dial 888-398-8702
  • Follow the prompts to be connected to your representative
  • Tell them that you are a constituent and urge them to vote ‘NO’ on the Farm Bill (H.R. 2) and oppose cuts to SNAP food assistance.
SNAP puts food puts food on the table for approximately 42 million Americans. Nearly half of them are under the age of 18. Making cuts to this program is not only cruel, but will also leave millions of our fellow Americans struggling to find their next meal. Let’s make sure Congress understands their role in preventing chronic hunger in the U.S. before families are without the food they need.
Do you know others who would be outraged to hear that Congress is considering cutting food assistance and letting scores of Americans go hungry?
Forward this email to them and ask them to call too.
