Climate Resilience Planning: Understanding Local Impacts Developing a shared understanding of the challenges our community faces

Albemarle County is experiencing climate change in the form of longer heat waves, more intense rain events, and seasonal disruption. To understand our community's vulnerabilities associated with climate change, we partnered with the Piedmont Environmental Council and developed the Climate Vulnerability and Risk Assessment.

Join us for a discussion of the main conclusions of this report and an overview of our next steps in building climate resilience as a community and local government. We’ll begin with an overview of the report’s key takeaways, followed by a panel discussion by local experts to better understand the impacts on daily life across the county. We’ll close with an outline of the next steps in preparing for resilience, including our community engagement process to help develop a climate adaptation and resilience plan.

Thursday, September 29th from 6 - 7:30 pm. In-Person at Lane Auditorium and virtually via Zoom
