Kissimmee Airport Food Truck Fly-In Draws Hundreds in Celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month

On September 16, the Kissimmee Airport Food Truck Fly-In made history as the first-ever food truck festival to take place at the airport. The event was held in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, celebrating the rich and diverse culture of the Latin community in Central Florida. With over 1,500 attendees from all over the region, the Food Truck Fly-In was a huge success. The event featured an impressive lineup of local food trucks serving up a delicious variety of dishes, from traditional Latin favorites to gourmet fusion cuisine. Some of the highlights of the event, co-sponsored by the Latino Pilots Association, were the aviation-themed displays featuring vintage planes, helicopter rides courtesy of MaxFlight, and fun activities for the kids. Attendees enjoyed the excitement of the runway while indulging in delicious food and soaking up the cultural richness of Hispanic Heritage Month.

"We are thrilled to have partnered with the Latino Pilots Association for this event," said Shaun Germolus, A.A.E., Aviation Director at Kissimmee Gateway Airport. "Their support and participation helped make this a truly memorable occasion that celebrated both aviation and the Hispanic community."

The Food Truck Fly-In not only served as a platform for local businesses but also promoted the airport as a vibrant destination for both aviation, and tourism. “Bringing visitors to our amazing city is a priority for us and to make that a reality, we’ve partnered with Experience Kissimmee, the official tourism authority for Osceola County, Florida to collaborate on ways that we can promote the destination domestically and internationally to potential leisure, business, and recreational travelers.”

Sponsors of the event included Toho Water Authority, United Airlines, the City of Kissimmee, Experience Kissimmee, and the Kissimmee Utility Authority. This successful event showcases how the community can come together to create a fun and exciting atmosphere that celebrates diversity and promotes cultural awareness.
