Preaching Text: Galatians 3:1-9, 23-29

Paul continues to work to proclaim the Gospel to the Galatians…that Christ is about breaking down barriers rather than building them. It is a human tendency to want to respond with actions. What do we do in response to this good news? But the second we start to do, we start to compare, to measure ourselves, to put up barriers. 

Gracious God, help us to live in the promises of Jesus, to be clothed in Christ and to join Jesus in His work of healing, feeding, and welcoming. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

What is a Synod? What is a Synod Assembly?

• Remind us always that we are each an equal and precious part of the Body of Christ regardless of our perceived differences.
• Make us to care for all that you have made as if we are caring for our own bodies.
• Be with refugees and displaced peoples from all nations. Sustain them with your love and help them find stability in new places.
• Give us compassion and make us to care for all in need of healing and wholeness, especially Chris & Connie Gimre, and Ken & Sue Issel.
• Help us listen to the youngest among us. Bless their visions, hopes, and dreams, and help us to see how you work through them.
• We remember those who have gone before us with longing, and seek your guidance as we follow in their footsteps while doing your work in the world.

These and the prayers of all creation we lift to you in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Welcome to our new PDO Director, Ali Blane! Ali brings abundant experience as a preschool teacher, school administrator and former PDO mom. We know her warm smile will continue to welcome families to PDO and reflect GLC’s mission to live generously.

We are seeking a new treasurer! This is a volunteer position and requires someone who is good with numbers, comfortable with spreadsheets and basic budgeting, and has some flexibility in their schedule. For more information or to express interest, contact Mike Slifka.

The women's group, GIG, will be meeting next Tuesday, June 3 at 8PM at Geneva Ale House. Contact Faith Sax for more information.

Swedish Days is June 18-22 and we need narthex volunteers to allow us to keep our bathrooms open through the festivities as well as volunteers for the Swedish Pancake Breakfast on June 21. Click HERE to sign up for narthex and HERE for pancake breakfast.

Volunteers are needed to serve dinner to our neighbors in Aurora alongside Bethlehem Lutheran Church volunteers on Friday, June 27 from 6:30-8:30PM. We also need food donations and people to help prepare the food in the morning that day from 9-10AM. Click HERE for more info and to sign up.

We will be preparing dinner for 80 people at Holy Trinity Soup Kettle in Elgin. On June 29 we will prepare the meal between services and need volunteers to bake the casseroles at GLC, deliver to Holy Trinity, and serve the meal at Holy Trinity. Click HERE for more information and to sign up.

Rising 1st through 5th graders are invited to join us at Lutheran Outdoor Ministries on July 9! We will depart GLC at 8:30AM and return at 4:30PM. Camp fee of $40 per child includes meal, snack, and transportation as well as team building activities including pond canoeing and water play. Contact Michelle Lata for more information.
