Happy weekend!

These last two Sundays we visited the Spring Creek Canyon and Jo Hays Vista. It was great to see some of you at these destinations, and we're looking forward to more beautiful outings as the weather continues to warm up and the scenery pops with brightly colored flowers, birds and trees.

This Sunday, May 23, join us us at the Benner Spring access to the Spring Creek Canyon Trail. The trailhead is located off Rock Road in Bellefonte, roughly a 10-12 minute drive from downtown State College. Visitors will enjoy the sounds of the stream as the trail meanders along Spring Creek, and also learn a bit of local history from a series of signs about Philip Benner and the village of Rock.

Then Sunday, May 30, join us at Penn-Roosevelt State Park for another memorable adventure. Penn-Roosevelt is located within Rothrock State Forest, about a 25 minute drive from Boalsburg. Visitors will experience the tranquil experience of being in the midst of a cool, unfragmented, core forest at this park. While there, think about what you notice about this destination that's different from those that are not part of a larger forest. What sounds do you hear and do you notice different plants and trees than you see in your own backyard?

These destinations are both 'self-guided' adventures which means I'll be at each destination between 12-6 p.m. to answer questions you might have and offer suggestions to help you make the most of your visit. Look for me at the parking area, rain or shine!

Hope to see you soon!
