COVID-19 UPDATE

Dear Friends:

As a valued community partner, we want to say “thank you” for supporting the Chula Vista Police Department and Chula Vista Police Foundation during this unprecedented time. The novel coronavirus or COVID-19 has thrust our communities into unknown territory, and we recognize this may be a frightening time for you. It is the same for law enforcement personnel and their families. Despite the challenges and heightened state of anxiety you might be facing, Chula Vista Police Department is out on the front lines serving and protecting our community. Now more than ever, it is important that we follow Governor Newsom’s orders to stay at home except for essential needs or to go to an essential job to protect our communities.

The City of Chula Vista is coordinating with the County of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency/Public Health Services department and other agencies to ensure the necessary steps are taken to monitor and reduce the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19).

In these challenging times, our officers have embraced the unique challenges presented by COVID-19 with the same passion, enthusiasm and dedication to service that promotes the spirit and heart of the Chula Vista Police Department. Our men and women are out in the community educating, helping provide a sense of calm, and a sense of hope and a promise of better times to come.

Thanks to community partners, Chula Vista Police Foundation has been able to deliver resources to CVPD so that they can provide exceptional public safety services to the community. The support has not only provided tools, equipment, services and wellness training and resources for our officers, but also, your support has demonstrated the importance of community partnerships helping us build a stronger tomorrow.

Chula Vista Police Department has implemented an emergency staffing plan to maximize resources to protect our community. All efforts recommended by public health officials are being followed by CVPD personnel, such as social distancing, routine hand washing and frequently disinfecting objects and surfaces. To prevent the spread, we highly encourage you to do the same.

A number of public service announcements have been distributed to remind our community to take these recommendations seriously and to stress the importance of these measures are to the health and well-being of Chula Vista residents, visitors, and employees during the COVID-19 outbreak. Protecting our community remains our top priority.
