Greetings!

Greetings!

As a fresh layer of snow covers a large portion of the United States, I think about the strength of our community and the contributions we received to install safe heaters in classrooms in rural Iran. Following a tragic incident at a school with a faulty heater, our Child Foundation community swung into action and has raised over $25,000 in a matter of weeks. 200 new heaters have been ordered and delivered to the Sistan and Baluchestan province, making sure children are safe and warm while at school learning. I want to personally thank all those that contributed – education should be a right for all, and sometimes the community needs to come together to make sure children can go to school and be safe at school. I encourage you all to share the fundraiser with friends and family, so that we can purchase additional Conex units to act as classrooms, while crumbling, unsafe classrooms are rebuilt.

In just under six weeks, the Spring Equinox will be celebrated by millions around the world who consider it as the start of their new year, referred to as Nowruz in Iran. Like previous years, Child Foundation celebrates the coming of Spring and Nowruz with new hope and energy for our work, as well as a Nowruz Bazaar, with more details below. It is customary during this time for children to receive a new piece clothing or monetary gift (eidi) from elders. The children that we support study tirelessly all year to excel in school while navigating financial and societal hardships. Each year, we award each child with an eidi to celebrate their hard work.

Our Nowruz campaign this year will provide new pairs of shoes to our students. Child Foundation will e purchasing locally to keep costs down. Our gift-giving campaign will make sure eidi is distributed to the most needy children, some of which may not have a monthly sponsor. Our goal is to provide eidi for over 5,000 children, and we can't reach this goal without your help! Click here to join the campaign. In the meantime, please visit our website updated lists of children waiting for sponsorships.

Thank you for the continuous support. Stay warm out there!

Day of Laughter in Afghanistan
On January 14 th, our staff in Afghanistan celebrated Day of Laughter by distributing school supplies to over 700 children under our support. The children got to enjoy a day of activities and games, and went home with notebooks, pens, coloring pencils, and other school supplies. A huge thank you to our field staff who go above and beyond to bring a smile on the faces of the children that we serve. Many staff worked overtime and on the weekend to get the gift packages ready for the children.
