The Honorable Kathleen Hicks is a born leader. A fierce advocate and champion of the people, she speaks truth to power.
Kathleen Hicks served as a City Councilmember for the City of Fort Worth and was the youngest woman ever elected to the Fort Worth City Council.  She eventually served as Mayor Pro-Tem. Currently the executive director of the Sickle Cell Disease Association of Tarrant County, she is a member of the Hispanic Women’s Network of Texas and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Kathleen attended Mount Holyoke where she received a bachelor's degree in politics and then a Masters degree in International Relations from the University of Nottingham.  Her board service includes the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth and Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra.

With gyms and recreation centers closed during the COVID-19 pandemic, many people found it difficult to remain active and establish new exercise routines. And with online work and learning more readily accepted, we’ve become even more sedentary.
A study published in the International Journal of Exercise Science found that people are sitting an additional 7.8 hours – 13.9% more per week – since the pandemic started. Data showed that the most active people prior to closures reduced exercise by 32% during the pandemic.

Companies cite many reasons for moving to Dallas-Fort Worth, including access to air travel, the cost of living and the quality of the workforce. Chicago is competitive on all those fronts, yet Caterpillar Inc. announced on Tuesday that it’s relocating its headquarters from suburban Chicago to Irving, one of D-FW’s leading cities.

Proposals are being accepted for South Dallas Fair Park Opportunity Fund

Non Profit Organizations are invited to apply for funding to provide human development programs or services directly benefiting residents of the South Dallas Fair Park community. Applications for the 2022 Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) for the South Dallas/Fair Park Opportunity Fund (SDFPOF) will be accepted through July 8, 2022.

The SDFPOF provides loans and grants to promote economic development and support human development initiatives in neighborhoods surrounding Fair Park. NOFA provides the form of application and scoring criteria for the human services grants. A maximum of $100,000 will be awarded to fund the projects and services.

Alleged crypto scammer Alexandre released as more Haitian victims come forward

NEW YORK — Eddy Alexandre, the Long Island man accused of running a $59 million
cryptocurrency-based Ponzi scheme, has been released on bail and is to remain under house arrest, according to multiple sources following his case. Meanwhile, more Haitians have come forward, worried and anxious about what’s to happen with the funds now under government control. “My cousin introduced it to my uncle, who invested $5,000,” said Jude Joseph, a police officer in Brooklyn. “He was upset because he invested all that money and he’s not getting it back.” In the weeks since Alexandre’s May 12 arrest, more people have come forward saying they lost thousands of dollars or barely escaped joining the purported scam.

The result of it has created heartache and heartbreak. Lives have been lost and it has left the stain of disgrace on this country. Accomplishments, it could be argued, are sometimes overshadowed by our blatant disregard for some members of our beloved community.
