CRC NEWS | April 26, 2020
Dear CRC Supporter,

Thank you for helping us exceed our goal of raising $500,000 in less than five weeks!

It is heartening to know that although we can’t be together now, we ARE together in taking care of our community’s vulnerable neighbors.

We thought a goal of $500,000 in five weeks was bold. But the need continues to grow. Over the past month, we've seen more families depending on CRC for emergency food, shelter and safety from domestic violence. Our nation’s economic recovery will take a long time, and we must prepare now to ensure we have the funding to help our neighbors in need now and in the year to come.

$1,000,000 is our new goal to support the services we’ll need to provide over the next year.

We need your support to reach this bold and audacious goal, so together we can make sure to help our neighbors who are hungry, homeless and hurting.

Warm regards,
John Van Cleef
CEO

How You Can Help
Make a gift
Give today to our Community Cares Campaign to help provide food for the hungry, shelter for the homeless and safety for the abused.

Other ways to give:

  • Check with your tax advisor on your charitable contribution deduction. The Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act (CARES Act) allows individuals who do not itemize their deductions to take up to a $300 above-the-line deduction in arriving at their Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) for qualified charitable contributions made in 2020. This change enables taxpayers who claim the standard deduction to take an additional deduction for charitable contributions.

  • Matching gifts – check with your matching gifts programs to see if your employer has increased their match!

  • Donor Advised Funds – you can requests grants from your DAF to be sent directly to CRC.

Remembering William (Bill) Fields

1/21/1929 – 4/15/2020

It is with sadness that CRC learned of the passing of one of our volunteers, Bill Fields last week. He called himself “Box Boy” and showed up early each week to the Food Pantry, eager to sort produce and break down boxes in the alleyway. Bill always had a smile and was a joy to all of the staff and the volunteers lucky enough to know him. He celebrated his 90th birthday with cupcakes after a volunteer shift last year, proving that a heart for service never grows old. He will be truly missed!
