Let the little children come to me...
Raise Up Families Hands Caring Kids

As a congregation, one of the outreach programs we support is Raise Up Families whose mission is to ensure childhood learning by keeping school-aged children, who are on the verge of homelessness, in a stable home environment, and thus a stable school environment.
Like many of our other outreach efforts, we offer the chance to serve the Raise Up Families organization in a hands-on way.  Next Saturday the 19th is the big event that we offer to this ministry every year.  We will host a fun morning we call the "Fall Festival" where we open our gymnasium and playground to children while their parents receive budgeting, parenting and other life skills in a workshop in the library.  Then the families all have lunch together in the gym.
Having been a volunteer for this in the past, I can tell you it is a lot of fun and deeply meaningful.  Helping these families stay out of homelessness and keeping their children from having to change schools will have a significant long-term impact on their wellbeing.
We are a church that cares for children in so many ways.  Our care reflects the care of God for these little ones.  Jesus said in the Gospel of Matthew, "Whoever becomes humble like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me." Jesus desires to come into our midst as the little ones.  He also desires for us to care for the little ones who are so often vulnerable.  Come on out next Saturday morning, the 19th.  Details are below and you can contact Nancy Moody to let her know you'll be there and ask any questions.
May we all be blessed as God's own children and care for the children placed in our midst.

See you in church,

Joshua Condon signature
