LETTER FROM FATHER BLACK - CATHOLIC YOUTH SUMMER CAMP WEEK WITH ST. BRIGID
Dear Youth and Parents of St. Brigid of Kildare Parish,
I hope your summer has been a fruitful one and know that you are in my prayers as you begin your new school year.
The involvement of youth in their faith is essential to any parish. I have seen evidence that the faith in the youth of our parish is truly alive and well. Youth have so much to offer our world in their enthusiasm about the Lord and their trust in the power of the Holy Spirit.
As your pastor, I am very excited to let you know of a great opportunity that will be open to you next summer, (its not too soon to plan ahead)!
Many of you have participated in Catholic Youth Summer Camp in previous years at Damascus. A week at Catholic Youth Summer Camp is a chance for students in incoming grades 6-12 to step away from the distractions of daily life and experience high-adventure activities that lead to a high-adventure faith. I have heard many youth talk about what an amazing experience their time at camp has been. Because this camp has been so successful, many have found it difficult to beat the registration rush in order to get in.
The staff of CYSC has offered our parish an opportunity to block out some registration spots just for our parish on a particular week. This will really improve the chances of getting your registration in. It will also provide an opportunity for you to attend the camp with other youth from our parish.
The week is Week 4 of CYSC, June 28-July 3, 2026.
I encourage you to consider attending this week of faith with other youth next June. Our parish Youth Minister, Ellie Dills, will be following up with more details soon in the next few weeks.
God Bless,
Fr. Black
