The first week of Middle School is complete! We celebrated on Friday with treats after the morning assembly and "freezer pops" after lunch. It was important to appreciate our students during what we know is both an exciting and anxious time. I watched your children, with open minds, acquaint themselves with new teachers, new classmates, new routines and expectations. I never tire of seeing those and other aspects of a new school year develop.
I commend the middle school faculty for their work last week. Please know that they will continue to walk beside your children this year, providing support and guidance. You will get to know more about them and their work on September 4 during MS Back-to-School Night. Our faculty is excited about the new format of that night, and we look forward to seeing you then. Please note a few things of importance below:
Please pull all the way forward when dropping off your children before school. Students should have their bookbags and other supplies with them as they get out of the car and not retrieve items from the trunk or back seat after getting out. For the safety of all of our students, cell phones are not to be used anywhere when driving on campus.
Parents' Association of Columbus Academy (PACA)
You will receive periodic communication from our parent association's middle school leaders Christina Jauchius and Jennifer Salopek with important information. They will solicit your support for middle school events. I thank you in advance for working with them.
Nora Raleigh Baskin, author of our summer reading book Nine, Ten, will visit the Middle School on September 10-11. We received a PACA grant to invite Ms. Baskin, and we are excited to have her work with our students!
