Dear Parents and Guardians,
The Ossining School District continues to actively monitor the updates, information and guidance documents regarding the coronavirus. We will continue to monitor the situation, especially since we now know that the virus is present in parts of Westchester County.
Our district receives ongoing information from the NYS Department of Health, the Westchester County Department of Health, the NYS Education Department and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. As a District, we continue to take proactive steps to ensure the health and safety of our students and staff.
Below is a list of our recent efforts surrounding this subject:
- We have conducted several Districtwide Emergency Response Team (DERT) meetings.
- Director of Facilities, Jared Mance, has met with our custodial staff to ensure that our buildings and schools are being disinfected appropriately during this time.
- We have consulted with our regional safety coordinator at P/NW BOCES to discuss our efforts.
- Efforts are being made to clean all high-contact areas, including doorknobs and water fountains.
- We have inventoried our cleaning supplies to make sure we have sufficient materials in stock.
- We have ordered disinfecting wipes specifically for electronics.
- Our Transportation Department is taking extra steps to disinfect buses.
- All students and staff have been educated on preventative actions they can take (i.e. hand washing, cough/respiratory etiquette, avoid touching eyes/nose/mouth with unwashed hands, etc.)
- We have been exploring long- and short-term actions to ensure health and safety and preparedness for the future.
We will continue to update families on all our efforts and on guidance from the Department of Health, and we will share relevant information in a timely manner.
Be assured that the district is handling this matter with the utmost sense of urgency, and we are fully committed to educating students in a safe and nurturing environment.

Apreciados padres y tutores,
El Distrito Escolar de Ossining continúa monitoreando activamente las actualizaciones, la información y los documentos de orientación sobre el Coronavirus. Continuaremos monitoreando la situación, especialmente ahora que sabemos que el virus que el virus está presente en partes del condado de Westchester.
Nuestro distrito recibe continuamente información del Departamento de Salud del Estado de Nueva York, del Departamento de Salud del Condado de Westchester, del Departamento de Educación del Estado de Nueva York y de los Centros para el Control y Prevención de Enfermedades. Como distrito continuaremos tomando medidas proactivas para garantizar la salud y seguridad de nuestros estudiantes y del personal. A continuación, encontrarán la lista de nuestros esfuerzos recientes respecto a este tema:
- Hemos realizado varias reuniones en el distrito con el Equipo de Respuesta a Emergencia (DERT por sus siglas en inglés).
- Nuestro director de instalaciones, Jared Mance, se reunió con el personal de conserjes de la escuela a fin de garantizar que nuestros edificios y escuelas están siendo desinfectados apropiadamente durante este tiempo.
- Hemos consultado con nuestro Coordinador Regional de Seguridad en P/NW BOCES para discutir nuestros esfuerzos.
- Se están haciendo esfuerzos para limpiar todas las áreas de alto contacto, incluyendo los pomos de las puertas y las fuentes de agua.
- Hicimos un inventario de nuestros productos de limpieza para asegurarnos de que tenemos suficiente existencia de productos.
- Ordenamos toallitas húmedas desinfectantes especialmente para productos electrónicos.
- Nuestro Departamento de Transporte está tomando medidas para desinfectar los buses.
- Todos los estudiantes y el personal han sido educados sobre acciones preventivas que pueden tomar (tales como lavarse las manos, terapia respiratoria /manejo de la tos, evitar tocarse los ojos/nariz/boca con las manos sin lavar, etc.)
- Hemos estado explorando acciones a corto y largo plazo para garantizar la salud, la seguridad y la preparación para el futuro.
Continuaremos suministrando información actualizada a las familias sobre todos nuestros esfuerzos y sobre la orientación del Departamento de Salud; compartiremos oportunamente información relevante.
Tengan la seguridad de que el Distrito está manejando este caso con la máxima urgencia y estamos totalmente comprometidos con la educación de nuestros estudiantes en un ambiente seguro y acogedor. Les recordamos que si su hijo/a, está enfermo/a, manténgalo/a en la casa; y busque orientación de su médico antes de que regrese a la escuela.
