Dear Ossining Families:
Following the recent events at the United States Capitol, many of us have concerns about Wednesday’s presidential inauguration. The emotional and physical safety of our students and staff are our primary concerns as we approach this historic event. With the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday Monday, students in the Ossining cohort will be in our schools Wednesday, along with our youngest children at Park School and other students who are in our buildings on Wednesdays.
To ensure the social and emotional well-being of our students, the meaning and impact of the inauguration and transfer of power certainly will be topics of discussion in our classrooms, but we will not broadcast the ceremony live in the elementary schools. Our teachers and other staff will be on alert for any students who might be having trouble processing recent events on top of the COVID-19 pandemic. While we do not expect the events in Washington to affect our schools and campuses, we will be working closely with the Ossining Police Department to monitor any potential safety and security issues.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to do our best for our students and the Ossining community during this challenging school year. Together we will ensure that our children continue to learn and thrive this year and beyond.

Tras los recientes acontecimientos en el Capitolio de los Estados Unidos, a muchos de nosotros nos preocupa la toma de posesión presidencial del miércoles. La seguridad emocional y física de nuestros estudiantes y personal son nuestras principales preocupaciones a medida que se aproxima este evento histórico. Con el lunes feriado de Martin Luther King Jr., los estudiantes del grupo Ossining estarán en nuestras escuelas el miércoles, así como también nuestros niños más pequeños de la Escuela Park y otros estudiantes que están en nuestras escuelas los miércoles.
Para garantizar el bienestar social y emocional de nuestros estudiantes, el significado y el impacto de la toma de posesión presidencial y de la transferencia de poder; ciertamente serán temas de discusión en nuestros salones de clase, pero no transmitiremos en vivo la ceremonia en las escuelas elementales. Nuestros maestros y el resto del personal estarán alertas a cualquier estudiante que pueda tener problemas para procesar los eventos recientes además de la pandemia de COVID-19. Aunque no esperamos que los eventos en Washington afecten nuestras escuelas y campuses, trabajaremos en estrecha colaboración con el Departamento de Policía de Ossining para monitorear cualquier asunto posible de seguridad.
