Next Era Tucson Reception

Greetings,

Today, we are looking ahead excitedly toward this weekend’s graduation festivities.

As we anticipate celebrating the achievements of the Class of 2026, it is also fitting to feature the Class of 2025. Only a year ago, they walked across the stage at Centennial Hall. Ten months later, they achieved a record-breaking 92.31% full-time, long-term employment rate and an overall employment rate of 95.38%.

Their success is a testament not only to their perseverance, but also to everyone in our community to supports, mentors, interviews and hires LawCats.

Record-breaking Employment for University of Arizona Law Class of 2025

Recent Arizona Law graduates have record employment numbers, breaking the college’s 2023 all-time high. The Arizona Law class of 2025’s full-time, long-term rate of employment for bar-passage required and JD advantage jobs is 92.31%, the highest ever, exceeding the previous high of 90.35% for the class of 2023.

The figure, which quantifies employment ten months after graduation, also exceeds the national 2025 class rate of 87.7% reported to the American Bar Association.

“I am excited for the class of 2025 and its historically high employment outcomes,” says Assistant Dean for Career Development Leah Won (’05). “This success is a direct result of our graduates’ quality education and hard work and the commitment of our employer partners.”

Half the employment for the class of 2025 — 50% — is with a law firm. Eighteen class members are employed by firms of 501 or more attorneys.

Judicial clerkships historically have been a strong sector for University of Arizona Law graduates, and the class of 2025 is comparable. The class of 2025 reports 20.2% in judicial clerkships — six graduates in federal judicial clerkships and 19 in state and local judicial clerkships. The national average for the class of 2025 is 9.8%.

Law Library Receives Public Access Award for Preservation Project

The Daniel F. Cracchiolo Law Library recently received the American Association of Law Libraries (AALL) Public Access to Government Information Award for the Navajo Nation Department of Water Resources Library Preservation Project. The project is digitizing 8,250 print resources from the Navajo Nation Department of Water Resources library, including current and historical maps, reports, water access records and other documentation. Over a multi-year effort, digitization is helping to preserve the documents for use by the Navajo Nation in supporting water rights claims, and also allows access for a broader audience.

A principal tenet of the AALL is the right of equal access to information for all to ensure an informed citizenry and to promote a just and democratic society. Established in 1998, the Public Access to Government Information Award is given to recognize persons or organizations that have made significant contributions to protect and promote greater public access to government information.

In addition, law library leaders have been shaping discussions on a diverse range of topics, with recent appearances by:

Associate Dean of Legal Information Innovation, Director of the Daniel F. Cracchiolo Law Library, and Professor of Law Teresa Miguel Sterns, speaking about the Morrill Land-Grant article and project , which documents the University of Arizona’s status as a land-grant institution, at the Southwestern Association of Law Librarians.

Associate Librarian Cas Laskowski, on a panel at the University of Montana Law School discussing AI, legal education and the practice of law. The panel explored how artificial intelligence and human-centered design are reshaping both legal education and practice.

Head of Collections Jessica Ugstad, speaking at the ER&L (Electronic Resources & Libraries) Annual Library Conference on collection development strategies.

Foreign, Comparative and International Law Librarian Marcelo Rodriguez, presenting on “Joy in the Library,” during National Library Week alongside the President of the Arizona Library Association.
