Good Evening,

I hope this email finds you well on this sunny Tuesday. Before we get started on the daily update, I want to remind you that our small but dedicated district office staff, Ty and Liza, along with myself, even while working remotely, are still interfacing with government and elected officials to deal with all those local issues that were always of concern and may be exacerbated in this crisis. Please continue to email, and we will do our best to be of help.

While the country has now passed 1 million confirmed Covid-19 cases, the trend lines locally continue to move in the right direction. Speaking of moving, especially as the weather continues to become warmer, people are going to be even less inclined to “Stay
Home” but will need to be safe all the same.

As you may have seen mentioned here and elsewhere, the Mayor has announced plans for the city to open at least 40 and possibly up to 100 miles of streets to pedestrians and bicycles as we enter the summer.

In the hope of participating in the process, we sent this letter to the Department of Transportation . The purpose, as the letter states, is to coordinate community input giving the City local knowledge in order to develop and implement the best possible plan while
social distancing guidelines remain in effect.

I’m sure this plan will come up at next Wednesday’s community check-in. If you haven’t already done so, register here and join the over 100 people who already have signed up.

If you scroll past my email signature, you’ll find useful information such as " Java With Jo Anne " and an updated grading policy for public schools.

I hope you stay safe and that you enjoy the rest of your day and feel free to share this information however you’d like.

Michael Racioppo, District Manager
Brooklyn Community Board 6
