Letters TO God!!! 12/29/31
2 Kings 19:14 (KJV)
14 And Hezekiah received the letter of the hand of the messengers, and read it: and Hezekiah went up into the house of the LORD, and spread it before the LORD.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
With much trepidation I pen this LETTER to you today!
I believe that this sermon is of upmost importance and is a treatise I enter into not without great PRAYER and thought.
I believe in LETTERS TO GOD!!!!
Little Amanda has developed a fixation on her Christian movies and she watches them DAILY, over and over.
One of her favorites is a movie entitled “LETTERS TO GOD.”
It is the story of a young boy suffering with terminal cancer that writes letters to God and encourages others to do the same.
King Hezekiah is a very interesting king chronicled in our Bible who lived through many pains and tribulations of THIS life and one of them is posted above.
King Hezekiah had received a frightening letter from his enemy and in desperation he carried the entire WRITTEN letter of threat to his King-the Lord Jehovah God!!
Our Bible duly states that he “spread it before the Lord.”
There is power in the WRITTEN word!!!
The Apostle Peter wrote:
2 Peter 1:19 (KJV)
19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
In the Verses directly preceding Peter's declaration, he wrote:
2 Peter 1:16-18 (KJV)
16 For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
17 For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
18 And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount.
Although he and the other Apostles had seen and handled “the Word of life” he pointed out the “MORE SURE” testament of “ a more sure word of prophecy” IE. THE BIBLE!
Brethren, it is time to WRITE OUT OUR NEW YEAR PRAYER FOR 2022!!!!!!!
The WRITING out of our PRAYER provides us with a written RECORDING and a TEMPLATE to fall back on each day through the coming year!!!!
I often remember the WRITINGS of Dr. Yonngi Cho, a recently deceased pastor of one of the largest Churches in the world.
He described one of his teachings as to the individual's PRAYER and desire for a mate.
He asked the person seeking council from him to PRAY SPECIFICALLY!!
“What color do you desire your mate to be-what age, how tall, what color eyes do you want your future mate to have???
If you desire a bicycle, what color and shape and where is it manufactured???
I well remember my WRITTEN PRAYER on the purchase of the home I live in today, some 22 years ago....................
I PRAYED A SPECIFIC PRAYER!!
I wanted a NEW house as I was tired of buying another mans home that possibly needed unknown repairs!!!
I wanted a ONE LEVER home as my previous home had too many stairs and I was sick and tired of climbing stairs-AND I foreseen my too soon aging and inability to traverse staircases!!!
Thirdly I WROTE in my NEW YEAR PRAYER that I desired a home with NO neighbors in close proximity!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was living in a sub-division at that time and the neighbors I lived among were NOT friendly.
SO, BELOVED-ASK SPECIFICALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Matthew 7:7-11 (KJV)
7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
9 Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?
10 Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?
11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?
OK!! Today is Wednesday, December 29, 2021.
The NEW YEAR is only a few days hence!!!
I earnestly implore you to take this WRITING today to heart and begin TODAY to prepare and PRAY about the wonderful task of WRITING OUT YOUR NEW YEAR PRAYER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I keep my NEW YEAR PRAYER stored on my computer and my phone and try to daily peruse its content and PRAY daily this NEW YEAR PRAYER!!
Finally, if God took the care and effort to record His Commandments in stone............
What if WE made the effort to record our NEW YEAR PRAYER in the “cloud!!??”
