Tree Removal Night Work

Night work for the tree removals is scheduled as part of the Leucadia Streetscape project between La Costa Avenue and Jupiter Street. Work could begin as early as the end of this week. To accomplish this work with as little disruption to traffic as possible, it is scheduled to be completed between the hours of 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. and should be completed next week. Please expect intermittent lane shifts and closures, construction equipment in the area, and temporary noise during this time. Drivers are reminded to follow all marked signage and travel through the area with extra caution for the safety of everyone, including crews, cyclists, pedestrians and drivers.

Preserving and revitalizing the tree canopy throughout Leucadia is an overarching goal of the project. The trees selected for removal were carefully evaluated several times, are considered a safety risk, and are in direct conflict with the critical infrastructure of the project. The City of Encinitas takes its responsibility as steward of the City’s urban tree canopy seriously, so no trees are scheduled to be removed unless necessary.
