The Psychonomic Society is pleased to announce that Stephan Lewandowsky (University of Bristol, UK) has been elected by his colleagues to become Chair of the Governing Board for 2024.
"I am thrilled to take on the role of Chair for the Psychonomic Society Governing Board," Lewandowsky said. "Psychonomics has been near and dear to my heart for years. Our science has implications that reach into every facet of the world today, and we need to be guided by scientific rigor and excellence now more than ever. I look forward to championing the role of science in society and leading the Psychonomic Society's efforts into 2024 and beyond."
Lewandowsky currently chairs the Society's Communications Committee. He previously chaired the Diversity & Inclusion Committee and has served on many other PS committees over the years.
In August, Valérie Camos (Université of Fribourg, Switzerland) and Monica S. Castelhano (Queen's University, Canada) were elected by the Society's membership to join the Governing Board. Camos and Castelhano will begin their six-year terms on January 1, 2023.
Caren Rotello (University of Massachusetts-Amherst, USA) resigned from the Governing Board in September for personal reasons. The Society thanks her for her service and wishes her all the best in her future endeavors. Due to this resignation and in accordance with the Psychonomic Society's bylaws, the third-place candidate in the recent Governing Board election was elected to fill Rotello's vacant seat and serve through December 31, 2025. Eva Van den Bussche (KU Leuven, Belgium) was that candidate and thus will continue her service on the Board through 2025.
In January 2023, Angela Gutchess (Brandeis University, USA) becomes Chair of the Governing Board, and Penny M. Pexman (University of Calgary, Canada) becomes Past Chair. James Pomerantz (Rice University, USA) will conclude his Governing Board term on December 31, 2022.
